  1. No not at all - it was bound to raise eyebrows as soon as I swap cars and then start changing bits I like some of the DBA discs - just for the yellow bells though
  2. Are you having any problems finding anywhere that will guarantee not to scratch the rims? Im going to get a tyre replaced on Saturday, Im getting one taken off the standards I have, and put on the GT4 rim. Im taking the wheels off and having them balanced (dont want an air gun going near my rims). Just hoping that the local tyre place near me will oblige in swapping the tyres over.
  3. Dorian, The reason I think I want to replace is that the rear discs seem a little scored. The current pads are ok, but it seems that at some point the previous owner neglected them and I think it shows. The feel is not as sharp as the brakes on the previous car, but thats probably slightly glazed pads and slightly damaged/worn discs. Nothing major, and using standard parts could replace the whole four corners discs and pads for about £350. I also noted this on the test drive, and knew that worst case scenario would be a replacement of all four discs and pads - but I factored this in when buying the car for considerably less than any other UY GT4 It may also be a slight over egging of the pudding on my part too, as I also bought a new Altea FR and the brakes on that almost put me through the front winscreen first time I usd them.
  4. I think I want to replace the discs on mine, so thought I would go for something that looks a little more the part. For about £20 or so more per disc than standards I was looking at EBC discs. Slotted and dimpled (not drilled right through). Im not doing any track days, so thinking about it, I doubt the Project Mu stuff would be worth it for me tbh. Looks nice though
  5. Im not splitting the thread, I always manage to make a mess of it!
  6. I may be interested in coming in on this too. Price permitting
  7. Is the NXT shampoo this stuff? I got that plus one of each of these: Has anyone got one of these, and what are their thoughts? enough to do the whole car?
  8. Yup - not a bad deal, I stocked up on their wash, wax and speed detailer for the shows. They didnt seem to stock the clay bar though, and I have just used up my last one. Will have a look at a local motor factors today to see if I can get some more.
  9. Just do it facing uphill! Or bring it round to my drive Tim and Ill do them for you.
  10. You must have worse luck than me Tim! At least you know how to swap them for silver ones now though!
  11. could have got the bulb out without taking anything else off/out.
  12. Tim - that sounds a nightmare! I have a tool for such jobs though. Its like a flexible pickled onion grabber.
  13. 2 x 12v sockets. Once you ge the hang of the TomTom you will be fine tim. Im going to sort out the camera database and a few other POI (points of interest) databases.
  14. Count me and the other half in.
  15. Excellent - is it going to be a new 07 model then, or a replacement 06 model? Glad it worked out well in the end

    My New Wheels

I know what he's getting. A little bird told me. The wait was worth it for yours Ian, they look stunning. Having thought about it, the GT4 wheels dont seem to do bad on ebay, certainly would offset the expense of new wheels, but I really like the GT4 wheel, so dont think I will be changing.
  17. I fancy one of these within the next 10 years but it will work out just a tad more expensive for me, as although the missus doesnt mind it going in the garage....the unfortunate thing is the garage she wouldnt mind it going in, is attached to a different house. So yes - Im allowed to spend that much money on a car, but only after we have moved house. Best start saving.
  18. I tend to go by the BBC 5 day forecast. Its fairly accurate, but a bit pesemistic! says cloudy here today in Chesterfield, but its that sunny Im thinking of going home to fetch the Z just for the hell of it.
  19. Looks like you got a good result from the other dealer. Who was the dealer that gave you the good service? Others may like to know.
  20. Got to be second hand on a Gallardo - unless of course you want to suffer the £30k depreciation in the first 12 months just for the hell of it Mind you - buying something like that is one thing - keeping it on the road and the regular servicing is quite another. The evo Murcielago test car covered 20k in 12 months and costs were £3k servicing, £3k tyres, £2.5k clutch, Oil changes £450, Brake pads £600, and then theres the fuel for such a beast at about £8k for the 20k miles. Thats running costs of over 17k for that car in the year, then of course theres the insurance, which would undoubtedly be another four figure sum.
  21. Not wrong at all - My other half cried when we sold a Fiat Tipo runabout that we had for a year - bought it for £300 from the auctions, sold it for £350 a year or so later, and it went through 2 MOTs without a hickup.
  22. Normally depends on what order we leave the services car park in! So it will get mixed up a bit - Jacko will be leading the way though. If any attendees want to PM me their mobile number for addition to the list that will be distributed, please do so - I can then put the list together prior to the event.
  23. Ill do my best to answer the points. Yes we travel in one long convoy - Non Zeds at the rear where possible I think, so as to not spoil the "effect". There is absolutely NO racing. We are on public roads, and we have to respect the villages and comunities that we will be driving through - also, some drivers are not as confident as others, so may be disturbed by others agressively overtaking etc. Therefore although on some stretches of road the driving may become "spirited", there should be NO racing, and no acting like clowns. Afterall we dont want to see any accidents, and we dont want to tar our community with the "boy racer" brush. If people get stuck at traffic lights, and with 30 cars in convoy it is guaranteed to happen, the best solution is for the second or third to last car to make a mental not of who is the last car, and at juntions/lights etc make sure that last car is with the group, if not, hold back and allow them to catch up before rejoining the rest of the convoy. It sounds very regimental, but on the day it should be easy enough for the whole group to stay together. I say "should" as this is the first time we will have had this many cars in convoy. On the day, we should be able to provide a map of the route, with the stops marked on. Also, we have previously handed out a sheet to every driver with a list of mobile phone numbers for various attendees, so should the worst happen and you get split up from the group, you can contact a member for help. The stops, from what I remember are capable of holding the number of cars we are bringing, however, we are likely to cause some traffic congestion so be careful how/where you park your car at the various photo opportunities. Im sure Jacko (the pilot of our train) will select appropriate roads where we can park for photos and leave enough room for passing traffic in both directions. The car park at the lake is fairly large, but can get busy - with 30 cars, we may struggle at that point - however it is possible to double park, as long as we double park in front of other attendees and not members of the general public. The number one rule is for us to have fun, as long as we do that while being considerate to the other motorists, and the communities we will be driving through, then iot should be an excellent day out.
  24. All this work and it still wont get as much attention as a Yellow one ! Just kidding Val, looks good.
  25. If the council got decent value for money and quality workmanship then the problem would not have existed in the first place. The reason council taxes increase is because year after year the companies that are subcontracted by the councils realise they can get away with blue murder as regards charges for council work. Four men to dig a hole with one shovel sound familiar. - Thats what I passed on my way to work today. one guy with a pnuematic drill, and three others stood watching - to replace one manhole cover. Brilliant!
