  1. Should be good for the southern owners. I know our larger meets tend to be further "ooop north". There are some "SE Mafia" threads on here though so may be of interest to several of those people No problem in advertising other clubs meets on here at all. Shame certain other sites dont reciprocate, but none the less, an SE meet for Z owners is one more for the list
  2. Shows rain/showers on other weather resources. Still time to change anyway!
  3. Buy a yellow one then You can get a Z to stand out for a lot less than 18k, kit, wheels and a few other goodies would do the trick wouldn it. In true gameshow style..... The choice is yours...
  4. You pop into Aldi once a week and have the cheek to criticise cheap wheels - you pikey. B&Q paint usually does what it says on the tin, so if they stock the right colour, that is perhaps your best budget option compared to Hamerite.
  5. Nice, but its LHD. Which would make overtaking and general driving just that bit more annoying. Doesnt matter to some people, but it would bother me. Then again its a very nice car. I can see why you are in a dilema. If I were in the same position, I would buy another Z with the cash and put the extra toward a deposit for property, or in my case pay for an upcoming holidy, or sort out the bodykit for the Z.
  6. Those with TomTom can register (for free) on pocket GPS world, and download Points of Interest databases. The Shell one has 890 stations listed and the BP one 1141 listed. Simply add it to your TomTom like you do the camera database, and hey presto, you can navigate to the nearest station of your choice.
  7. Good luck with the sale. Its sad to see a member sell up, but there are always more important things in life. Hope everything goes well with the house too.
  8. I remember you looking a bit fed up that day Tim, you really werent impressed with having to tag along in that. We still talked to you though.
  9. Some of you guys are putting me to shame, and I was around when we built the place! How time flies.
  10. Also Billy its worth asking to see if the dealer or the manufacturer have their own insurance they can put you on while yours is sorted. There is a way for you to be in the car for the weekend - the dealer just needs to sort it out for you one way or another.
  11. Yup - the dealer needs to give the owner the registration, the owner needs to get insurance sorted on that registration, and thn the dealership will need the original insurance document to tax it. If it helps, we recently bought a couple of new cars for myself and my brother. He was out of the country and came back the day that we were due to pick them up. This posed exactly the same problem as Billy will have. There was no chance he could get the insurance sorted that day for the dealership tp tax it. However - there was a solution - the dealership (or Seat themselves) offered a one week free insurance policy for just this purpose. He was covered under Seats own policy for up to one week until his own insurance came through. It may be worth asking the supplying dealership if they offer a similar scheme as you would like to drive the car at the weekend.
  12. When I was driving home the other day, the sun was low and getting in my eyes - so I flipped the sun visor down. Took about 1 second. What hapens with this thing? Is it just as easy as flipping a sun visor down, or does it take a little more effort and time? Effort and time that could be better spent concentrating on the road and not crashing due to being blined by the sun
  13. I suppose the Bank Holiday sun will have certainly brought a few more out than normal. Apparently although motorcyclists account for under 2% of road users, they accounted for 50% of fatal accidents in Lincolnshire (the county whose seaside I visited). And the East coast is a favourite destination of the bikers on Sunny bank holidays. Coincidence? Ahh well, Ive sai my bit. Hopefully they all made it home safe and the ones that had the near misses will think a little more next time.
  14. Unfortunately, and maybe incorrectly, I have an opposite view. I think its the vast majority that ride in this manner today, and the minority that are sensible. Not a single bike on the stretch of road I was on waited in the traffic. Every single one crossed the white lines and drove on the opposite side of the road just expecting the slow moving traffic on the other side (the side I was on) to move over and let them have half our lane. Im talking maybe 50 or 60 bikes in the hour or so I was in the slow traffic. Out of the 20 or 30 bikes that over took us on the way there, at least 50% of these overtook either myself or cars in front on double whites. This time expecting the traffic on the opposite side to myself to give up half their lane. There were caravans coming the other way on occasions, and at least twice the bikers had to severley swerve (into a tiny gap between cars) to avoid hitting the frontside of a 6 berth coming the other way. It would be very interesting to see just how many of the 10 fatal accidents in the month of February on that road involved motorcycles.
  15. I know Ill probably get flamed for this - but I have to vent my anger.... What the hell is it with Bikers that ride like complete and utter morons. Yesterday I had a run to the seaside and back in the Z. Half of the journey was in slow moving traffic. Now I know that bikers can nip down the middle etc, but when doing the legal limit, why do some of these power ranger wannabes insist on overtaking on blind bends, blind sumits, and more annoyingly, double white lines. Myself and a whole host of other cars were having to drive almost in the gutter as bikers coming in the opposite direction apparently tought it their god given right to use half our lane because theirs wasnt wide enough to pass the slow moving traffic jam. God forbid they have to sit there in the queue like the rest of us in their leather romper suits. Why should I have to move over to let a biker overtake on double white lines in the opposite direction! I swear one day Im buying a hummer, and mounting a bunch of manequin heads in motorcycle helmets on the front and rear with wording something like "I dont give way to oncoming bikes in MY lane". Sorry - had to get that off my chest, im just damned annoyed at them feeling they have every right to use the oncoming lane to avoid slower traffic. Interstingly enough - the road in question has apparently had 10 fatal accidents in the Month of February. I wonder why.
  16. I know. That wasnt for four tyres worth though. If I took tyres and rims to them, they would fit and balance a set of 4 for about £20 or so. I dont think 10 per wheel for tyre fitting and balancing is too bad. They are taking a risk with your rims, and after all the corporation taxes, VAT and fiters wages have been taken out - its not a massive profit for the company, as its not something they will be doing all day long.
  17. I had a tyre swapped on mine at Wingerworth Tyres here in Chesterfield. They did state that any tyre swaps are at owners risk, and that they could not guarantee that the rims would not be marked. They did say that maybe one in every hundred they unfortunately get a hairline scratch around the rim, but mine were unmarked. They did say that the problem is the standard bridgestone tyres are a pig to get off without lots of force due to their overly sturdy sidewall apparently. Cost me £8 to have two tyres removed, one tyre fitted to a rim, and that wheel balanced.
  18. Out of the 13 350Z's listed, it appears 7 are members here. Mind you its still a small ish number of 350's for the parade. Im sure once the pics of the upcoming meets are published, many will want to take part in another gathering, and this one should be excellent. Thanks for all your efforts on this Steve, it cant be easy. It is very much appreciated. Not everyone can say that they have driven round the silverstone circuit. I can't. But I will be able to after this parade lap - which is cool.
  19. I think you took the path of least resistance Val. Going down the insurance would have no doubt meant you paying out on the excess anyway, and the NCB would have gone too - which would have cost more in the long run too. As for the above with u2, how on earth the lads mother can say "its just a scratch, so we arent paying at all" is beyond me... I suppose she comes from the group of people that just consider a minor scuff and scratch "general wear and tear" on a car. afterall that whats bumpers are for aren't they? Shame you have to go down the insurance route, but perhaps it will teach the daft bint a lesson. She really hasnt thought this through. Depriving a young lad of his No Claims Discount is going to cost one hell of a lot more than a couple hundred to respray a bumper. Im surprised that scuff is too deep for chips away though I thought they could tackle stuff like that?
  20. Very common these UY with Nismo. Think mine without is rarer!
  21. Aparently three versions - price in Japan rumoured to be £29,000 for base model (6 speed manual and 4 pot brembos, £35,000 for V version, which apparently has 7 speed DSG and 6 pot brakes. Top version is like the V version, but with lots of carbon fibre to reduce weight. Maybe £50,000 Once the car gets to the UK, I can imagine those prices being a LOT higher.
  22. Handle like they are on rails too. The turbo ones are very quick indeed, but the standard versions are very nippy too due to weiging as much as a feather duster.
  23. Dont give the missus ideas! We do however have a family audience, and those who read at work, hence various words being censored.
  24. Cant wait to see the UK price tag compared to the land of the rising sun or indeed the US. Looks great though. I like the black A pillars too - gives the front screen that wrap around look like the koenigsegg.
