  1. Im sat looking for a plague of locust flying in now.
  2. Gives most of the residents something to talk about when queuing for their giro I suppose. Luckily nobody harmed in this incident, and hopefully those tackling the blaze will all be unharmed.
  3. I bought one as a present for Tracy. My thoughts are as long as it means something to the person rather than the car then it is a present for life. Nothing wrong with having a plate that is appropriate for the car, but I consider that more of a "mod" to the car, rather than a present for the driver/owner.
  4. Well - to Chesterfield maybe. We've had floods. During those we had fire, as a club burnt down. Now we have what the authorities are calling a "Major Incident" as a supermarket is on fire within a shopping precinct - apparently there are several units battling the blaze at Somerfields in Chesterfield town center, the roof has collapsed and a large proprtion of Chesterfield is now cordoned off due to smoke and the risk of fir spreading to surrounding buildings. So - whats next for a our usually quiet market town? The black death is coming I tell thee!
  5. Hello and Great to see another owner join the community here Hope you enjoy the place and the various meets arranged etc. Have fun!
  6. About 3 to 4 hours apparently. I drove litterally about 100 yards from whre those were taken on my way home, either the fire brigade or some helpful souls had removed a bollard preventing access to a dissused factory in the process of being demolished, and removed a section of fence at the other side of the site. In order for cars (and a bus at the time I went through) to drive through this part demolished factory, out the other side and avoid this flooded river (the river Hipper).
  7. Sorry to keep postin on this, as hopefully we have dried up in chesterfield now - but a friend has just sent these over - these four show jut how much the river levels changed here: Then there are a couple more of the retail park and peering through the shop doors: On the downside - its started raining here again. Hopefully just showers, but we are set to get some more prolonged wet periods at the weekend - hopefully it will miss Sheffield, the water here has subsided, in Sheffield it is still standing, so the last thing they need there is more rain. I have several shots of the inside of Meadowhall, water reaching a couple of feet or more across the ground level, looking at the pictures, I wouldnt imagine it will be open and back to normal for some considerable time.
  8. Thought I would post this one up of a place in Chesterfield. You cant get much closer to the side than that can you....
  9. Yup. There is maybe 3 to 4 ft height difference between the front door of the shops and the spaces on the far side of the car park. Look at the angle ofthe black car in the 3rd pic down.
  10. That has just broken our office into fits of laughtr for the last ten minutes.
  11. Apparently its burst the main sewer at Hornsbridge roundabout (the first two pictures). There are major roadworks and excavations in the area which could have exposed weakenesses in the pipes etc. So yes, its going to be a bit smelly round there for a while - though they are pretty good with the road sweepers/cleaners if needed.
  12. Arggghhh.. Sorry to hear this Nixy. As others have said, the best option is to wait until you can get the car moved (preferably on a recovery truck or some other trailer) to a place where it can be checked out properly. Fingers crossed its just electrics that need to dry out etc.
  13. So far the Rother has burst its banks, but if we have any further heavy rain (which seems unlikely thankfully) The Derwent, Trent, Erewash and Wye rivers are all at risk of bursting their banks according to local sources. That would cause scenes in and around Chesterfield at least on par with those seen on the news from Sheffield. We did have one RAF rescue chopper out, over the Stavely area of Chesterfield. Had it not been for the fact I was trying to fetch my mother from Hospital, I would have got my bike out and gone and taken some pictures myself, fortunately we live at the top of a hill, which afforded us safety.
  14. Getting home was a little interesting last night. Anyone round the area may know the Hornsbridge roundabout. Its one of the main ones in Chesterfeld, for anyone that knows of the roundabout - I was told when heading toward it that I may need a boat rather than the Altea. The chap wasnt kidding... (note the national speed limit sign in the second picture). It took me 2.5 hours to make the 30 minute drive home, and I know the shortcuts round most areas. I was supposed to fetch my mother from hospital, but gave up when it got to 11pm and I was still 2 miles away (having covered 3 miles). She had to have a bed made up for the night like many others. On the plus side - there may be some cheap electrical goods and other item from stores on the ravenside retail park.. It started like this.... Got to this after a while... Then the bollards were totally submerged, meaning at least 3 or 4 ft of water inside these shops. And some of the bus drivers stuck to their routes like troopers... Planks. One of the more serious issues was that the main routes to and from the hospital to the East side of Chesterfield were either completely gridlocked, or impassable. This is the main one at the bottom of Hady Hill. Unfortunately there are reports of at least one death in Chesterfield, a young boy on his bike was hit by an articulated lorry. Very poor visibility yesterday evening at times. I havent taken any of these pictures but am collecting them as and when I find them on the net. The missus's brothers house is actually visible on some of the news footage from sheffield (the part where the traffic lights are taken out by the flood water for anyone that has seen it). Needless to say we wil have a lodger for the forseable future. Take care if travelling around the region, as trees have been made unstable by eroded land, and various routes are still waterlogged and closed.
  15. Thanks. Its actually two stitched together again using Autostitch.
  16. Here is one of my favourite pics..... Im sorting my pics out from the various points and will add them shortly - there are litterally hundreds, so its taking some doing - the whole lot add up to about 4GB or so, so I need to resize and sort them before posting.
  17. On subjects such as this, please feel free to work round the swear filter! Its an absolute bloody disgrace! What has happened to this country. Thees nothing more that can be said, like you Ming, issues such as this boil my blood. Its a complete and utter farce. Can we put enough people together from here in enough regions to form a political party? In all seriousness, how far do things like this have to go before there is an uprising of the opressed tax payers?
  18. Invest in a caps lock key before posting further topics? As for the wheels, I think they look stunning in black.
  19. It certainly sounds like a problem to me. I think mine suffers a little from it - but certainly not to the extent that some people are seeing. During my trip round France, Ive seen the level drop from 3/4 to about 1/3 on the oil, which I think is about 500ml in a couple of thousand miles. And its had some lead foot on some occasions. As for 3l in 5000 miles! Im no expert, but that sounds VERY excessive. A closer eye on mine from now on too I think.
  20. Good job with all the double posting and all
  21. Hi & Great to see another fellow Z'er join up Hope you find the site fun and informative
  22. I dont know if they remove the stereo, but they do remove a lot of the soiund deadening, the rear glass window is thinner, the roof carbon fibre, the air conditioning removed (although you can add it back in as an option if you wish), the interior door panels are carbon fibre etc. Its certainly "aimed" at the track day enthusiast, but the question is not if these are serious track cars or not, but where will they have spent most of their time - track, or road?
  23. You would think so, but are the GT and Non-GT the same shape? I thought the GT had a slightly different shape to the drivers seat (cut out for the gear changing left arm)
  24. I think they would have to cut them to make the templates for the leather retrim wouldnt they? Im no upholsterer though, so I could be wrong.
