  2. There has to be some banter allowed, thread locking is only used to prevent deterioration of topics because of a minority of people who just seem to have less self control than others.
  3. It would of been locked regardless of my post once Digsy saw it The point is, what if the OP or anyone else, has something to add to that topic? A new thread is started and then immediately locked with a link to the original one? So lets say the threads are left open - what do we do with the innevitable spam that gets posted on the unlocked/dormant topic?
  4. Im still running on the Bridgestones, had a few slips, but I think when I had those the tyres wouldnt have made much of a difference (sheet ice for example). Some tyres are invariably better than others, but if Im honest I think the only time you will notice this difference is when driving the car hard, bearing in mind I havent driven on anything other than the RE040's on the Z, I have no experience on which to base that though.
  5. I think its just our concious efforts to try and prevent rubbish being posted. Im sure we all agree the banter makes things fun, and we certainly wouldnt want to prevent the banter and chat from taking place. Though there have been numerous examples of threads where they have deteriorated to such an extent they border on drivel. I believe the general policy on for sale items etc is to lock the topics after the item is sold or removed from sale etc, and on other threads, once they have reached a natural conclusion, perhaps they should be locked? Ongoing issues that people suffer from perhaps shouldnt be locked, but if the additions to the topic for some time are pointless, then there is often little option, (other than to remove the offending indivisual posts, but then we get cries of censorship). We have tried several methods of trying to remove the unnecessary (very off topic or ott) posts from threads, daily chat, chat rooms etc, but none seem to work. Preventing threads from becoming a mess in the forst place is just one more option that can be used, and clearly this appears to raise eyebrows too.

  8. As per usual the British end of the delivery process results in a complete balls up. Half way round the planet and then on the journey from port to home Parcelforce manage to lose a box. What a surprise. Is there any wonder Parcelforce have NEVER made a profit? Last time I was at Royal Mail, the Parcelforce financial target was to LOSE £25m if I recall correctly. Which was a stretch, as the year before that I think they lost £30m. Any wonder with such attention to detail? Mind you, others arent much better, I think it was TNT or UPS who delivered my brake pads to the motor factors round the corner instead of my office - which made for an interesting afternoon trying to find two sets of incorrectly delivered brake pads in a motor factors main storage depot I hope you get it sorted soon.
  9. Im sure a solicitor would be VERY interested to see a copy of his employment contract, one of those bulldog no win no fee organisations would probably be best. It looks on the face of it as Argos possibly could have stepped into a legal hornets nest by considering that gross misconduct. If by the story reaching the Sun it has damaged his future employment prospects and it is considered unfair at appeal, then I reckon it could cost Argos a nice penny.
  10. The more info the better I think, its interesting to see the detail behind these cars - the rumours that not all 176 plaques were used was something that caught my interest a while ago but seems to have gone quiet on that front now.
  11. Best idea by far. May mean an hour or two waiting, but as long as the situation is explained fully that a tool will be needed to remove the wheel then they should arrive equiped. Worst case scenario it turns up back at home on a truck and its back to square one, but worth a try!
  12. No, the DC2 is not correct, thats similar to the locking nuts we have on the Z. A tight fitting torx or square may do it, but it may round it off if the nuts are tight. Then there is trouble ahead if that happens. I would think a garage may have the tools to take those off, but its getting it to the garage. If you are in the AA, then they have the tool to get it off, and the puncture can be used as an excuse to call them out - but if you can find a frinedly one, they may help a damsel in distress out of the kindness of their heart.
  13. Just to clarify, the AA have the tool I linked to, and the RAC have the reverse threaded sockets which will chew up the nut and likely scratch the wheel around it.
  14. That would also explain the flat, almost saloon type, rear portion of the boot. To give the necessary cover and storage area for the folding top.
  15. Tool/locking wheel nut remover - all the same thing really. There are various methods of doing this, if you are in the AA, or know of a friendly AA man they have the tool made by these guys: http://www.lockingwheelnutremover.co.uk/ This is excelent - got the locking wheel nuts off my Z in a flash, no damage to the wheels or nuts (unlike the first one that I took off myself) Faling that, you can get reverse threaded sockets (these are carried by the RAC), which can be bought from screwfix or the like, they will damage or destroy the locking nut in the process, and are likely to damage/scratch the wheel too. Failing that, they could be chissled off, but if its a wheel bolt and not a nut, then you'll need a stud remover - and probably a weekend in the garage with a hammer and chisel, and this will almost certainly damage the wheel, and or bearing. Another option is to contact the manufacturer of the locking wheel nuts and ask for a replacement tool, but you may need to provide evidence that you own the nuts in question that are to be removed - for obvious reasons. You will no doubt be waiting a while too. If you can find someone who has the tool in the link I posted then that is your best bet, very fast, and no damage to most nuts (though if the tool os lost, you may as well remove all 4 locking nuts and get a new set anyway)

  19. Great to meet up with people again today - and some new faces too Shame about the weather, but the food and company inside the pub made a it a good afternoon out. I do have a few photos of the meet, I'll upload them shortly. I think we may also have just achieved the highest altitude 350Z meet too

  21. Maybe not an Idiot.. If it is the only one in existence, how valuable is it to Apple in order for them to analyse how this was done and update their locking techniques? Apple may be willing to pay a lot more than the cost of a 350 in the US for this phone..
  22. The autoglym leather cleaner and leather care will probably do the trick, both can be found at halfrauds. I use the Hlafords leather care/feed on mine and it does a great job, if the cleaner is of the same quality then it should be fine.
  23. Then why dont the authorities do something about the DVLA putting higher prices on plates that can spell various words/names when mis spaced. The DVLA are encouraging these plates to be mis spaced by the high prices they put on them. Yet that seems perfectly legal.... So you pay the money for the plate, do exactly what the dvla know that you will do with the plate and have it made to read your name, and then you get fined for it. It could almost be seen as the DVLA working in cahoots with the police in order to generate revenue...
