  1. Price is decent enough, but Id have to do something about the wheels and other bits. The front bumper is not exactly my taste but thats not a problem. Need to source a car trailer and towbar for the car first I think, and Im away this weekend, so wouldnt be able to get to the chap for some time. There will be others if this is missed.
  2. Sorted! Another gold star for Phil, thanks again.
  3. Hmmm..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2003-NISSAN-350Z- ... dZViewItem
  4. Something like that Although she did like the car and in some ways prefered it to the Z. It was actually my idea to have a track toy instead, as its always something Ive fancied doing. Moving house just gives me the opportunity to do it and still keep the current Z too But yes - like most, its not the bloke that wears the trousers in this house even if she does work for me.
  5. £10k sounds nice - have been reading autotrader too. If a bargain can be had from insurance write offs or stolen recovered then thats fine - although Im not too fussed about repairing serious items from the off. Body panels other than the rear wings that need replacing is fine, as Ill probably replace them with carbon or fibreglass anyway at some point. Windows with plastic etc etc. Its cheaper to lose weight than add power is my theory Its a bit of fun.
  6. Found it here buddy Holdcroft Nissan Hanley Leek Road Hanley Stoke on Trent Staffordshire ST1 6AL Tel: 01782 204040
  7. Looking to build a 350Z track toy and would like to start with a cheap 350. Not bothered about colour, spec, mileage, imported or not, body damage etc. As long as it is in good running condition. If you dont want to see your car butchered, repainted and plastered in forum logos and possibly ditched in a gravel trap, dont sell it me.
  8. If anyone who has upgraded their suspension has a set of rear shocks available, please let me know
  9. Just quoting what I read on a GTR site, Im not overly technical, but it is a new fangled twin drive shaft set up. Ive today decided Im not going to have one. I have been researching the available options, etc and to be honest I like the 350 and the community we have here, as does Tracy. Instead we are going to look at different houses with more garage space. I am also now going to look at realising something I thought of a while ago and will be now looking for a second 350Z to turn into a track toy. As much fun as the GTR would be, I just fancy something I can rag round a track and not worry about bending. Can look at a GTR in 18 months time after having had some fun.
  10. The last time myself and Tracy were in the situation we are in now where we both work at the same office, the weekend car we had at the time once did 950 miles between MOT's. The MX-5 was 6 years old when we sold it and it had 9k on the clock.
  11. Exactly right Dave. With myself and Tracy now working at the same office we are likely to do less than 2000 miles per year in the Z. Whereas we will do the best part of 12,000 in the Seat Diesel. The figures mean that while the Z will pump out under 900kg of CO2 in the year, the Seat will churn out over 3.2 TONS! Yet the Seat will cost £175 for the road tax, and the Z a whopping £440. I can see garages increasing the premiums on new cars and having a "first years road tax free" offer plastered on the windscreen before long. You simply cannot base a road tax system, or any other system for that matter, on emission levels without taking into account usage. Were going to be paying for the CO2 emissions regardless of whether we generate it or not. There is absolutely no reason now why I shouldn't just use the Z as a daily drive to work and pump out almost twice as much CO2 just for the hell of it. Two fingers to you Mr Darling.
  12. I was looking for the details on this. As you say from the notes, it appears that the "standard" rate for a Z will be £440 per year regardless of the first registration date. Scrapping the part about registered on or after 23rd march 2006. If it was for new vehicles, to try and encourage people to buy greener cars when they are in the market for a new car I could understand it. Simply re-writing the book and applying it to all cars is not on at all. I assume once this kicks in, there will be billions wiped off the second hand car market, as those which fall into the higher bands may not be as attractive to second hand buyers now. a jump from £225 to £440 is a complete joke.
  13. The current 480ps is confirmed by Nissan as at the wheels, so estimates are that this one is 550ps at the fly.
  14. Yup - thats the official deposit level. I beleive anything less and your order wont be going through to Nissan until you have provided the full 3.5k.
  15. Hmmm - if you sell the ipod with music on I would say that was illegal, if you have the music in any other format, i.e. on your mac/pc. If you download the tunes direct from the internet onto your ipod (iphone?) and they are not present anywhere else, or accessible to you again without paying again, then that would be like selling your cd collection with your cd player, and perfectly legal I would think.
  16. My interpretation is that if I buy the song, in whatever format, I can then use that song in whatever device I own (unless its a public broadcast piece of equipment). If that means I have the song on a cd in the house, my mp3 player and on mp3 cd for the car, then so be it - I can only listen to one at once right? If the song is listened to on the mp3 player by my other half, at the sam time as Im out in the car listening to it, then I may be verging on illegal (in my book). I suspect the industrys interpretation of it would be that you buy the song once in every format you want it in, i.e to acheive the above scenario - you buy it three times It raises some interesting questions though, as I have a media server which has legally purchased software from Microsoft, and I can put my original CD in this server, it will copy the CD to the hard drive (again without the use of any software not legally available from Microsoft) and this album can then be listened to by myself on the media server, and can be accessed by another person on the xbox in the lounge, and by another person on the xbox in the bedroom. If I had a wireless Media extender I could also have it on in the garden too, all at the same time, using nothing but legaly purchased software and hardware, which is specifically designed to share media. As I say, my opinion is that if I have the origional CD or original proof that I purchased the tracks, I can play them on anything I own at any time. Though I wouldnt be surprised if the industry took a different view.
  17. We heard the red one starting up Dont know if Middlehursts would like the details of exactly where the car is inside the dealership, but its not sat in the middle of the showroom. They are a friendly place and will not mind letting you have a look round Im sure. They know a fair bit about the car, but admit that they know about as much as the rest of us regarding the final UK choices and specs. They read all the same info and will also tell you that a lot of what has been posted around the net is complete rubbish. Once they are back from Geneva, Im sure there will be some answers to the detailed questions. Though if the spec is changeable until later in the year, surely deposits cant be made non refundable until that happens?
  18. I think I know the dealers in question Welcome to the forum - you are picking it up just in time for show season - check the meets section for upcoming events such as the Donny Show and the mighty Wales run.
  19. Sounds very much like the company are on thin ice for constructive dismissal as by changing the status quo after 16 years is very much making alterations to your implied terms and conditions. Changing implied working responsibilities and then using these changes as justification for removal of a company benefit I would think is on VERY thin ice indeed. We have access to employment law professionals as part of an agreement for our company I may be able to get an answer from them, will try and see if I can get any word out of them on a "hypothetical situation" basis tomorrow. You may also be able to find some law firm that will offer a half hour free consultation before they will state whether you have a case or not (in the hope they will get the job of undertaking it for you if you do).
  20. Middlehursts are talking about a custom version which would utilise the sunglasses holder on the roof, be cheaper than the £1900 Nissan option, possibly be a better system, and also leave the main screen free for any other data you wanted to see. One flip down screen on the roof and another on the dash sounds very james bond to me
  21. Thats very true. There is a good chance that if the spec I was set on was available I may have parted with a deposit by now. As it is, Im being told that even though they have a black/red leather option, I cant have that in a red car, and I cant have the smoked wheels on a red car either, now Im thinking about White, with the black and red leather and the smoked wheels, with some nice nismo stripes I think. But wait a minute, I cant have the smoked wheels or the red leather bits on a white car either. Yet in the US and Japan they can!?! And they are being screwed together on the same frigging build line. Smoked wheels as standard in the US and silver an extra cost, yet here silver is standard and smoked is extra cost. Sounds very much to me that there wil be some wheels flying back and forth across the atlantic, generating god knows how much revenue for transport companies and or ebay. Not to mention the "environmental" cost of owners having to do this to get what they want, Im sure there is somebody at Nissan that would be in the firing line if someone were to point this out to an interested media body once these wheels started flying around. Exactly what will that do for the GTR image if within weeks bits start swapping hands on ebay just so people can have what they wanted in the first place. To put it simply, red or white car with red leather bits and smoked wheels and Im undecide which one to ask for when placing a deposit. None of those options and Im undecided whether to place a deposit at all. With the £1300 or so saved from the Black edition, you could always get a retrim done on the necessary leather bits on the interior and probably have the wheels smoked too, but why should you have to do that when coughing up a price tag like that?
  22. Im actually in the camp that beleives CO2 emissions have three tenths of bugger all to do with global warming. Any scientists that try to prove this are all but branded as heretics. If there were any proof to come out tht human generated CO2 is not as damaging as we all thought, the entire green industry woul be blown to bits, making hundreds of thousands of people around the globe redundant, wiping billions of pounds/dollars worth of value from companies that have invested in "green" measures etc. So whether its true or not, this green bandwagon is here to stay. Apparently the earth is now at its warmest for 400 years. Which begs the question as to what made it warmer 400 years ago? I dont recall reading about King James the firsts nasty CO2 generating V6 twin turbo, and the peasants runing filthy diesel generators but I could have skimmed that chapter I suppose. Some scientist has linked modern CO2 to the change in climate and the governments have pounced on the opportunity to make billions in revenue.
  23. Aye but I suppose a good chunk of that is down to good ol' Gordon Brown (Mr Darling now I guess). Still no excuse for taking the **** on options/configurations in my opinion.
  24. They looked to be fitted with the same sort of tyres as were on the M3 CSL - barely road legal. Looking at the tyres, if the intention was to use it every day (which you could) my assumption is thathat they would be lethal in the wet. And yes, damn right its the small issues Im basing my purchase on. If I go into Porsche to buy a new car, they dont start dictating that you cant have that leather with that colour car, or those wheels with that colour - unless its the GT3 wheels. I also dont think they play silly buggers with the othr options. The smoked wheels for example appear to be standard in the US, with the silver as an option. Whereas in the UK its the other way round, and the only way to get the smoked is to order a black edition, which you cant have in red, and you cant have the red bits of leather unless you have a black edition car (silver or black). Now there are rumours of black only being available in black edition anyway with the smoked wheels this may be a bit too much black for some. There are only 6 colours, 3 grades and 3 interiors - so 54 combinations in all. Is it really too much to ask for Nissan to allow customers to purchase any combination when they are parting with up to £55,000 ?? If Nissan really want to compete with the other cars in the same league then they need to stop playing silly arse with the customers and allow them to have what they want.
