  1. After my trip to the pumps in the Diesel Altea today and for the first time having the £60 cut off on the self service pumps cut in before th tank was full, I would suggest that if you are doing 75 miles a day in the Z you consider fuel economy as a major factor in your purchase. at 75 miles with the majority on the motorway, you are going to see somewhere around 25mpg I would think. Thats more than £13 per day in fuel. £65 a week, or almost £3k a year depending on your holidays. Thats before you do any other driving for pleasure. The Z will no doubt put a smile on your face, but the credit card bill for fuel for that number of miles certainly wont, also that sort of mileage on a car such as the 350 will also increase the depreciation rate on the car. There are those that use the Z as a daily drive, and do high miles, but the difference between a 2.0 diesel and a 3.5 petrol on fuel costs will be significant. Then there is the nice new tax bands created by Mr Darling - we are about to get hit for £300+ and next year its £400+. It may be worth considering a seperate "banger" for the motorway hack if possible - though obviously you have to weigh up whether you have room for it, the two lots of car tax, two lots of insurance etc against the extra depreciation and fuel costs of running Z daily. As for the suspension, unfortunately I have only ever driven 05 onward Z's so cannot compare the changes, sorry. EDIT: Edited to add we did a 2500 mile trip round Europe last year in the Z complete with all the luggage, and the Z ate the miles up. 450 mile trips in a single day were fine. The ride is stiffer than a typical motorway barge, but its not go-kart harsh.
  2. The only limiting factor at present is the capacity of the lunch venue of 100. There are 83 people confirmed, but only 81 meals booked, so thats room for 19 more for now.
  3. See requirements from Beavis posted below, other than those nothing else to do now unless you want to come out the night before with a few, then you will need to book a hotel (err which has just reminded me...!) Other than that, its just turn up 49 CARS NOW LISTED, 46 CONFIRMED, 83 PEOPLE. 1. beavis +1...........................................CONFIRMED 2x CARVERY 2. lomoto +1 ..........................................CONFIRMED 2x CARVERY 3. 4. Hi, Its always great to see more owners sign up. Glad you can make the Wales run too, its a great opportunity to meet with fellow owners! Sounds like you have been busy during your ownership time already with that list of additions! Dont worry, this site is dedicated to the 350 and there are no plans to alter that. Regards, Chris.

    Swap

Agree with above, they should sort that for you. I know some car garages will have their own insurance schemes they can put you on (for up to 7 days) until you can get your own covernote arranged. Worth a shot?
  6. You mean you work, and you dont just listen to Marcus turning the air blue whilst fitting the latest carbon lip!
  7. Dont worry, we have all learnt our lesson at some time or another - How do you think we all found out about the prices. For future awareness, you can get a set of EBC discs and pads all round for less than £500, + labour which is not a great deal. Discs alone Nissan will quote £1400 (or at least my local dealers did), which is nothing short of a joke. The paintwork sounds like quite a poor level of service. I would have expected that the dealer would have guaranteed their own repair work for longer than 6 months. If they dont want to even entertain sorting this issue out for you then it shows a very poor attitude in my opinion. Though it may be worth asking around local bodyshops for an idea on what they would quote to do a whole bonnet. You may find reviews of the local bodyshops level of service on a local car club - worth checking as you may save money and get a better job. It is rare that the dealers will do the spray work themselves, they often have an approved local bodyshop who does the work - so why not cut out the middle man? (as a broker I shouldnt say that, but anything for a fellow owner ) It may even pay to look in the back of car magazines for breakers yards, you may drop lucky and find a Z thats had a rear smash in the same colour as yours that you could get the bonnet from. (its a two man and transit van job to shift one though). Remember we are all here to help if you have any issues at all, someone here has probably been there and done it before you.
  8. So who would people reccomend for mod freindly insurance then? Direct Line have shafted me for the bodykit
  9. Steady, I may be going grey at the temples, but Ive not hit 30 yet.

See what I mean about the handbrake - just how close to the drivers seat do they want it?

    Old car

I actually think the styling of these is great, though not too sure on the back window part. The interior is like a space ship but will probably date fast, I hate the position of the handbrake, its right into the drivers side and not that accessible (drove one when considering cars before plumping for the Altea). I dont know where Hondas brains were with the engine though. So much of a dramatic change from the previous model on the outside, and the same power in the engine. Should have gone up to the 220 level at least with this latest revision I think.
  12. Hi Rob, Very sorry to hear about this, its everyones worst fear when parking cars anywhere now. One member here had the rear of his scrtached by someone resting their (metal) shopping basket on the car, and just dragging it off, stating "its just a car" when they did it I know there are a few people on the site that have had work done at denttec, Mike has some before and after shots of the work done on his. It all depends on where the dent is, and how accessible that area is for the chap at denttec. Im sure Mike will be able to provide input shortly.
  13. Sounds like a good deal to me and I would certainly want to try them come renewal time
  14. Wait till you tell your insurance company about items like bodykits and other modifications, you wont be able to sit down for a week.
  15. I might do that myself every now and then
  16. You arent taking it to the Donut are you Nicola?!?
  17. Cheeky sods. There are 3 yellow Z's in Chesterfield that I know of. It wont be me, as mine hasnt been out since Donnington, except for one trip to the office the other day. It could be paul (signwizard), or more likely its the chap who has a yellow Z in Danesmoor. That is the most commonly spotted one in Chesterfield as I think it gets out more than the other two. If its got a reg with ZZZ on, then thats the one.
  18. Yes we will all be in the top band. So a new Z will be 950 for the first year and I believe £410 moving to £455 the year after. And mine will probably do all of 3k miles a year now. Hmmm
  19. I voted black, but think carbon would match the spoiler and B pillar covers just fantastic.
  20. Forza 2 is good as a driving game, call of duty 4 online will all but steal every moment of your spare time if you enjoy playing multiplayer war games. Oh and Grand Theft Auto IV is out on the 29th, this is set to break almost all video game records to date.
  21. Tonto puts his ear to the ground and says Buffalo come here not long ago. The lone ranger, mystified by his skills of tracking, asks "How do you know?". Tonto replies "still sticky".
  22. Looking good. Though Paul had that Nismo front fitted and a normal size plate will not fit in the gap. However normal size letters on a smaller plate (smaller border) may fit just nice. (that gap will need to be a minimum 101mm) There are minimum border and letter sizes which for plates fitted after 1st Sept 2001 are: Characters: Height 79mm Width (except the figure 1 or letter l) 50mm Stroke 14mm Space between characters 11mm Space between groups 33mm Top, bottom and side margins (minimum) 11mm Space between vertical lines 19mm The document from the DVLA stating these can be found here: http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/leafle ... plates.pdf If you trim the characters and margins all to the minimum, the plate will look "different" to other cars, and may be cause for the fuzz to stop you, even though the plate does conform to the legal minimums. So having the document and a ruler handy may be beneficial.
