I am far from expert, I took my MX5 to someone to take care of it, on the basis that before any underselling is done, it had to be prepped first. Wirebrushed off the surface rust, rust convert anything else, into the cavities etc, then it gets sealed after. You're right to be cautious, I know a garage who see a lot of jap stuff and they have said since a lot of people DIY'd undersealing during the pandemic when they had lots of time and nothing to do, they've seen an uptick in rotten subframes with protection on top. I am assuming that given yours is relatively new, it shouldn't be too bad underneath right now, but I would suggest you get a look under there and then either bone up on the process if you're doing it yourself, or try and find a good provider who talk you through what their process is. You can never be 100% sure, you have to trust your judgement.

I have a 350z 2007 with a vq35de I have just purchased japspeed sports cats from japseed themselves. after looking at my current regular cats that are fitted I noticed a 02 sensor in the middle of both cats. There is also a pre cat sensor mounted on my exhaust manifolds ( not on the cat section ) the new sports cats only have one cat each side on the lower part of the exhaust with two 02 sensor mountings. these mounts are in a completely different place to where mine are currently. i was wondering if anybody new about this have I purchased the wrong cats ( EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS A VQ35DE ) please help…..

Latest update, pulled the rear bumper over the weekend. Found some surface rust but all pretty minor, so cleaned that up while I can access it all before I put the new rear bumper on. Just waiting for some matte silver paint to arrive to finish it off. No doubt these pics will be in a random order 😂

Still had problems going into 4th so have reverted back to the OE shifter. Now feels much much easier (although more sloppy) going into all gears. I think the coolerworx shifter mounting to the tunnel and not the gearbox means under heavy loads when the gearbox is moving around slightly the rifle precision of the shifter does not marry upto the position of the linkage. never the less, the oil situation remains the same in that I will only be using the redline stuff moving forwards.

Thanks Stu (assuming your name is Stu haha). I don't suppose you've any recommendations on what style of underseal to get done ie: products etc? I gather if it's done poorly it can cause more harm than good?

Looking at potentially buying this 350z https://www.evoke-classics.com/auction/#/lots/1535 but can see previous MOT advisories for corroded sills and underside. The pictures show the underside but I’m no fabricator and need some advice on the condition please. is this too much ie will it cost a load to resolve, or is this a managable level of corrosion? Thanks all

Hello from Basingstoke! 370 roadster owner for nearly a year and a half but thought I'd pop on here and see what was going on as it's always cool exchanging waves for the other Z owners I see while I'm driving - which does seem to be a rare occurrence in my part of the world, but I guess that makes it a bit more special

Don't know about the nismo but the GT undertray is one piece, and I cant say it looks anything like that. But yes clearly something missing on that photo are there are 4 clips for screws.

Anyone willing to drop me a pic of underside so i can check?? Cant see part on microfiche....

Stutopia started following Undersealing?

The product you use is the tricky part - but wether or not you should protect Japanese cars from UK roads (JDM or otherwise) to me is an absolute no brainer - YES! My 1998 Mk3 Hilux is like new underneath (which is good because every single panel is dented and scratched ) because someone protected it years ago and maintained it.

I don't use underseal as it can dry and crack. I jet wash and then use Bilt Hamber Dynax.

Hi guys, recently acquired a lovely low mileage late 2017 Nismo and I intend on keeping it for a long, long time. I was wondering if anyone had undersealed their 350 or 370 to protect against the salt on the winter roads? I know it's a must-do on JDM imports, but mine is a UK release and I've read differing opinions on whether undersealing is worth doing or a waste of money? Any and all opinions appreciated 👍

Hey from Scotland

Witherspoons in Edinburgh are a brilliant garage that deal with a lot of high end cars too. The guy Alex there and went above and beyond sourcing a really hard to get part that was keeping my old RCZ off the road. Not saying they're the cheapest, but they're honest and they definitely know what they're doing 👍 They'll definitely be the ones doing my first service and MOT in the Nismo. -

Hello, I want to enable to honk noise when I press lock on the key fob, but I've tried the holding the lock and unlock recommendation and while my lights do flash twice the noise doesn't then occur after activating it, does this feature exist on the UK 370z? Thank you

Creaking suspension noises when coming to a stop and turning.
MDMetal replied to Oliver Smith's topic in 350Z Technical
I'm still replacing them heh, but I had done the bannana arms and drop links previously. It's pretty likely to be suspension related, bits that don't move shouldn't make noise. (Neither should the bits that move but obviously they will as they age) -

Did you also experience noises like in my video or did you replace everything before they got to the state mine are in?
