Adrian@TORQEN started following Standard Cats
-
1.25 pitch, I suspect you're trying M10 1.50
-
The standard cats have a captive screw for fitting to the bracket that bolts across the underside of the transmission bellhousing. Hope I've explained that well enough. I've had to fit the standard cats back on as I've got one of those cars that just can't pass an MOT with 300 cel HFCs despite how hot I get it and how much cat/injector cleaner I put in the fuel. Best I've got the Co2 is 0.4%. My inspector is visibly willing it to pass every retest. Lamba and HC pass. I've put the standard CATs back on for a re-re-re-test but I can't find the nuts for the captive bolts. It looks close to an M10 but an M10 won't fit. Anyone know the size? Imperial maybe?

Hello Olly, I'm back in the UK now. If you're still interested I'll send some photos of the M R coilovers?

This came as part of a larger Auto Glym kit and I have no use for it. Unused and boxed. Comprises Interior Ultimate Protection, Glass Protection for side windows and rear screen (the blurb specifies that it's not for use on front windscreen) , Bodywork Ceramic Protection, pump nozzle squirty thingy (presumably for the interior protection bottle) and an applicator pad. No idea what it's worth, but £25 plus postage sounds like a bargain.

Good that it's sorted

Genuine Nissan part, unused and boxed. I'm presuming "Over Fender FRO" means front, which makes sense as it wasn't needed during repair. Please check fitment by part number on the box. Nissan probably sells this for a daft amount of money, but it's of no use to me. £20 plus postage, or collection from RH6 near Gatwick.

I have now resolved my issue. The Nifty City instructions list mandatory and optional connections that need to be made via their link harnesses and it appears that this isn't quite right, or at least it wasn't for my 09 Z. Basically I had to access the Bluetooth unit located at the front of the boot on drivers side, disconnect the righthand connector and fit a specific supplied harness to the car loom. There was a further connection I had to do at the screen end. The "optional" connections made everything work as normal on my car. If anyone is fitting or thinking of fitting one to an early car and gets stuck I can provide some images. Robin

If the steering still feels direct and not vague and all a bit meh, just heavy... after checking tyre pressures I'd tend to look at the pump personally Is the pump noisy or is the fluid a bit brown?
-
Cheaper to import from Japan. Lower customs.

ZMANALEX started following Front pads locking and Steering suddenly gone heavy

I should have racks and pumps in stock for your GT4 Have you checked your tyre pressures?

Bit of advice on replacing one aftermarket stereo with another

This is the patch lead I got: https://incartec.co.uk/product/PIONEER-patch-lead-for-29-series-SWC-29-007 The USB lead comes out of the back of the head unit, I've run it along the passenger underside of the centre console into the armrest cubby, there I have one of those OTG usb adapter things with a micro sd card in with all my music on. I do also have a wireless android auto adapter that can plug into the same place. -
By thick I'm assuming he means the width. Common with Brembo alloy calipers that use stainless steel sliders on the inside that the pads move along. From experience, corrosion between the 2 metals form under the sliders which slightly lifts them off the surface, this results in it 'not seeming' like the pads will fit or, in your case, too wide (if that is the case). It's a tedious job splitting the calipers, removing the sliders to remove as much corrosion as possible & building them back up, I've had to do that in the past. At one point you were able to buy new sliders on ebay for the Brembo calipers. Your issue may be completely different.

Sounds like the power steering pump to me mate

My 2005 GT4 seems to have developed heavy steering without me really noticing anything unusual. It's not a daily driver, it's an occasional driver so maybe I didn't notice, but it's gone from the usual fairly light power steering to noticeably heavy steering. I've checked the power steering fluid reservoir and that doesn't seem to have moved, it's still on the middle marker so it's neither high nor low. I did wonder if the power steering pump may be the culprit, but my local garage has said they don't think so. They had a quick look at the car and suggested it's probably the steering rack that needs replacing. I'm not sure how you go about determining which part is the culprit? If it is the steering rack, is anyone selling good condition used ones? Cheers Paul

Best to source and fit the correct pads. As a last resort, removing pad material must be done on a lathe to achieve a uniformed finish

Brought some Brembo pads via Horsham. They just pass the order onto EBC so the order come from EBC. TBH can't remember if I actually checked the boxes myself (but think i did). Gave them to my garage to fit as part of a service. Owner just called and said the rears have gone on fine and the fronts fitted fine but they look to be too thick. They instantly lock the front wheels. Owner said he'd take a look tomorrow morning as he's just going off what his mechanic said, but his mech said front and rears were the same part. Would the rears even fit into the front callipers? I'll have a better idea whether the mechanics made a mistake tomorrow once the owners had a look. The pictures of fronts and rears look identical on Horshams website. https://h-dev.co.uk/product/nissan-350z-3-5-brembo-2003-rear-ebc-redstuff-brake-pads-dp31537c https://h-dev.co.uk/product/142 Owner did say if its just a bit too think he can sand a few mm off them. Is that a good idea? This was my receipt from h-dev. annoyingly no actual part number.
