Here is an off the wall random question for anyone who may know what on earth is this, and what is it for?

I have half a dozen from my late mothers china collection but have no idea what they are - I was OK with the teapots and plates, I can even spot a tureen but what the !"£$% are these?????

For putting your teabags into when you take them out of the cup is my guess.

 

Got something similar at home & then you just put the teabags in the food bin when all the teas drained off & they're dry. :D

 

I like the idea, I may use it for that but this was around before Tea bags - earliest piece in the collection is a tea cup from 1870 :scare:

That sounds right ! Did you use the search, sure this has come up before ;)

 

Thing is ... That looks older than the invention of the tea bag ?

 

Maybe for draining veg ? Cabbage etc ?

Guess that's not what it was originally intended for then (think GIXXERUK has nailed it ;) ) but at least you could get some use out of it that way. :thumbs:

Did a Google search for images and found something similar to mum's.

 

Gotta love this forum :)

 

Now I didn't recognise it as I shower once a month (whether I need to or not) and I use shower gel :lol:

 

However the wife said Thank You very very much she has 7 in the collection and did not know what they were she also said "how the feck did you know that" ???
