Jonny Z Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 On my way home from work in my 05 350z roadster, was giving the throttle a little bit of a tickle around the twisty back roads when I hear a clunk from the front, when I got home I pulled around the back of the house onto some bumpy ground and can now hear a knocking, took a quick look and the drivers side front suspension has dropped around a centimeter compared tithe passenger side My MOT is due in a couple of weeks so not being one to pass up an opportunity to do some modding thought I will park up the z (I also have an Impreza to run around in) and order some lowering springs for it, been looking and found tien S-tech for around £150 but only have a 14mm/17mm drop, also found some Apex spring for £140 with a 30mm drop, anyone got any experience of these 2 spring sets? Jonny Z Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 PS I am on 19" staggered rota's so not sure how far I can drop it- 3 Quote
ZMANALEX Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Tein are a decent brand with a sensible drop. Eibach will give you circa 30mm drop all round, however you may require geometry correction arms to dial the geometry back to stock. Avoid Apex. Alex. 1 Quote
ZMANALEX Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 PS I am on 19" staggered rota's so not sure how far I can drop it- Easy, measure the gap. Alex. Quote
Jonny Z Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 What issue have you found with Apex Alex? Quote
Almeida1234 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I have set of standard springs if you staying oem Quote
Jonny Z Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Thanks for the offer but I am definitely going to lower it. Quote
HassanZ Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) I bought my Zed with Tein S-spec springs already fitted. It's a good cross between looks and practicality. I'll attach a photo when I have a minute. Edited October 13, 2014 by HassanZ Quote
Jonny Z Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Thanks that would be great, looking into the tein s-techs now, can't find any that say they are compatible with the roadster though, is there a difference between the spring kit for the soft and hard tops??? Quote
ZMANALEX Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 The Tein s-techs for the Coupe will fit the Roadster even though Tein do not list them as such. Alex. 1 Quote
GMballistic Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 PS I am on 19" staggered rota's so not sure how far I can drop it- Great looking roadster you've got there Jonny. Was just reading this thread about coilovers V's springs in case you're interested. Link: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/66336-coilovers-vs-lowering-springs-real-word-ride-height/ 1 Quote

GMballistic Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 ^^ Very nice ~ definitely think Tein's are probably the way to go for a sensible drop. Quote
Rock_Steady Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Got some nice clean looking Zeds there lads! Quote
Ewen@Clark Motorsport Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 We keep the Teins on the shelf can do them for £156 delivered 2 Quote
Asad Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I recomend eibach springs or even better the eibach pro street s coilovers set. Quote
BulletMagnet Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I recomend eibach springs or even better the eibach pro street s coilovers set. And obviously advise that additional items like rear camber arms, toe eye bolts and front adjustable upper suspensions arms may be needed to bring camber back into spec 1 Quote
Jonny Z Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 My tien s-tech springs arrived today, getting fitted and alignment reset on Tuesday so will put some photos up when it's all done Quote
HassanZ Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 My tien s-tech springs arrived today, getting fitted and alignment reset on Tuesday so will put some photos up when it's all done Can't wait to see the photos matey! Once you've done the alignment, the Zed will feel so much better! Mine was out of OE specifications too and the Zed didn't feel right when going around bends and even going in a straight line etc. I decided to get the alignment done as I had just purchased the Zed with the Teins and Eibach spacers already fitted and realised how out the alignment it was when the technician showed me the printout. This was because of the springs and spacers! Luckily with the Teins, all the camber and toe adjustments allow enough adjustment to bring everything back into specification as the Tein springs are not stupidly low. This saved me a fortune as I didn't have to purchase the adjustable camber arm kit and extended toe adjustment bolts! One thing I would consider though is to purchase Adjustable Whiteline Droplinks, as your current Droplinks will wear out much quicker due to excessive wear from the car being lowered. I would wait until your current Droplinks fail (become noisy) before considering upgrading. 2 Quote
Jonny Z Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Thanks for the info Hassan, will put the droplinks on my Xmas prezzie list Quote
Jonny Z Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Got them fitted today, must say the car now looks right, the car isn't anymore harsh to drive but does feel more planted. Will put some photos up when I get some time off in the daylight. Quote
