GMballistic Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Well done Dave ~ great driving and brilliant to watch. Made even better by the exhaust system which sounds fantastic. Nice to see also a decent camera positioning so we could see what was going on nicely. 1 Quote
Bodyboarder81 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) Looks great fun ! Noticed you have a different final drive ratio ... Does this make a vast difference and what rpm are u at 80 in 6th? Cheers Oh and that exhaust is loud ! Edited August 17, 2014 by Bodyboarder81 1 Quote
WhackyWill Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Good Video. What exhaust have you fitted ?. Was the diff getting hot ?. 1 Quote

Dave Bull Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 The final drive gear swap was by far the best modification I've done to the car! I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what rpm the engines at in what gear but it drops around 500 less through each hear change, so you're always in the power band! ah the differential was getting hot! I have the diff set with a heavy lock up and with the big tyres out back, it takes its toll after a while! I was going to switch out a few plates but I think I'll add a cooler first as it's an easier option! Besides I like the way it exits the corners, so don't want to lose that! Thanks for the compliments guys, glad you like it! 1 Quote

Thanks for the compliments guys, glad you like it! Cheers for that , might look into the 3.9 one as that seems to be a good compromise between the standard 3.5 and what you have for a road car .... What's the rough cost for this all in? And if you get a chance to sit at 80 in 6th then pm me what rpm your at , would appreciate it 1 Quote
Dave Bull Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 If I could I would go with the 4.36 gears! But yeah, I'll take a look on the way home tonight! Quote
Dave Bull Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 And cost wise, err maybe if you get someone to supply and do the work around 1k maybe! I dunno really, that's the joy of being able to do the work myself! It sure is a load cheaper!!! Quote
Dave Bull Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 And a small clip of the second session (will edit and upload it all on Tuesday)! 1 Quote
GMballistic Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Stop it Dave. God this makes me want to go on a track day right now so bad. Must resist till my Zeds all ready though. 1 Quote
Dave Bull Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Ok at 80 mph in 6th hear, the engine is at approximately 3200 rpm! Quote
Keyser Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Looks like great fun - great vids as well 1 Quote
Ebized Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Good vids to watch - you can see that diff making its presence felt, especially under hard braking Nice to see also a decent camera positioning so we could see what was going on nicely. Helped by no rear view mirror...... and seeing some others were not using theirs as well as they should you seem happy enough with just the side mirrors? Quote

Yeah, it can become frustrating at times, but what are you gonna do? I'm fine with just the external mirrors. It's weird though as my car has no interior mirror, nor does it have sun visors! Anybody else seen this on a 350Z before? Quote

New one on me er.........trying to get my head round this so I checked your introductory first post with this that shows something hanging from a rear view mirror???? You playing games with us..........? 1 Quote
Dave Bull Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Yeah dude, I had a child courtesy mirror when I first bought the car but removed it as it rattled loose as you went over bumps in the road! As for being legal, two external or one external / one internal are permitted! Quote
Dynamic Turtle Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Dave your exhaust sounds absolutely brilliant - probably the best Zed I've ever heard. Hate aftermarket alloys but yours look pretty sweet - not too dissimilar to OZ Superleggeras? Very nice car! 1 Quote
GMballistic Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Glad it's legal then Dave would be a shame to get on the wrong side of the law just over a rear view mirror of all things. 1 Quote
