EvansJD2112 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) So, on the way home tonight and slowing down towards a roundabout a car hit the car behind me who then went into me. Luckily, the guy behind had left a decent gap so not much damage to mine - just an imprint of his number plate The other two are much worse For my own peace of mind, can someone confirm that this picture is 'normal' That is, the shape? Taken underneath the car with the exhaust on the bottom, looking up Pretty sure it's OK as the bump was not that hard and exhaust etc all look fine. Cheers Edited July 15, 2014 by EvansJD2112 Quote
GMballistic Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Just been outside to look at my 350 and yours appears to be bent ~ mine is just a nice straight line across there if that makes sense. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Quote
EvansJD2112 Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 :-( mine is a 2009 HR, Bit oh hope that they differ.... Quote
EvansJD2112 Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 it seems such a well done 'bend' that I'm hoping it is by design! Quote

GMballistic Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 If I was you I'd go to the full editor version for your thread and edit the title to read "HR owners need your input". Might get some help from them then. Quote

Jp606 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) Just went out and took a pic of mine for you, looks bent in afraid It looks like your bash bar has been bent, done it's job. The silver bit. Edited July 15, 2014 by Jp606 Quote
EvansJD2112 Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 Agreed, crash bar definitely needs replacing. Big job? Waiting on insurance company to get back in touch with forms etc and approved garage Quote
GMballistic Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) ^^ That's not good news then. Try zmanalex maybe Jon to see if he has any second hand crash bars ~ unused of course. Will be cheaper than Nissan. Edit: But if it's going through the Insurance then just whatever they say ~ hopefully your premium won't go up next year. Edited July 15, 2014 by GMballistic Quote

Will prob go through insurance as it was not my fault. Quote
Jp606 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) Four bolts on each end from what I can see in the service manual, bumper off and swap to a new one. I expect ZMANALEX can sort one. EI.pdf page 18 Edited July 15, 2014 by Jp606 Quote
EvansJD2112 Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 Cheers, I can rest a bit easier tonight knowing the bent bit is meant to be a bent bit after a nudge. Quote
Jp606 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Yeah the bar has polysteyrene round it which is in contact with the rear bumper, so any nudges get absorbed rather than smash the rear bumper to bits. Quote
ZMANALEX Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 PM received and replied to. Crash bars and crash cans are in stock if required. Alex. Quote
CJRamze Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Your fault or not your premiums WILL increase! Sorry brother Quote
EvansJD2112 Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Your fault or not your premiums WILL increase! Sorry brother One of the benefits of being >45, the cost of insurance is very reasonable for the Z even with my mods. And so far very impressed with Sky so far. Car being collected Tuesday the Z is being collected and an 'equivalent' hire car dropped off. Quote
CJRamze Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I'm looking forward to getting older just so my insurance getting that little bit cheaper. Hopefully it wont impact it too much, nothing worse than having to pay for someone elses mess up! Quote
EvansJD2112 Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 Really happy to have my Z back this morning, the loan Audi A5 S-line was OK but boring! Must say, really impressed with Sky Insurance and Kindertons Accident Management. Was a very simple, quick and painless process. How she looks now 2 Quote
KUGT4 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 recommend 'accident management' company handles claim if not at fault - premiums not affected in my experience Quote
