370z Cobra cat back fitted

<p>Hey guys, so I'd been hunting for a new cat back system for my 370 for a month or so and had considered various options. However, I discovered that Cougar Store were working with Cobra to create a system for the 370. Mitz kindly sent me a video from the donor car and I new it was the system I was looking for.

Anyway, Mitz kindly sorted me out with a nice discount for being one of the first to buy the system so I was keen to put some of my thoughts and pictures up on the forum.

Looks:

I went for the rolled tips. As soon as I arrived at the garage after the fitting I noticed how huge the tail pipes looked compared to the stock exhaust. I honestly couldn't stop grinning - it looks awesome.

The rolled tips sit pretty much perfectly with the diffuser - no overhang like a lot of after market systems seem to have.

Fitment:

I got my usual mechanics to carry the work out., along with a P1 service and side light swap. He told me the fitting was fairly easy, however, he did have to bend the pipes out slightly from how they came. However, he did remark upon the quality of the exhaust saying "you can tell it's a very good quality exhaust just from looking at it".

Sound:

When I started the car up for the first time the stupid grin was back on my face. It starts up with a really nice growl and when revved past 3k RPM has a lovely rasp.

It's not super loud (thank goodness!), although on start up certainly turns a few heads. All in all the sound is just what I wanted.

Down changes - bloody hell it sounds amazing with the synchro rev....I used a ridiculous amount of petrol the first few days after having it fitted from all of the down changes I'd been doing just to hear it!

The one down side is that between 2500-3000rpm there is some drone. It's far from awful but certainly noticeable when cruising.

Overall:

I'm so glad I went ahead with the system. Every time I used to start the car up with the stock exhaust I used to just think "bloody hell it sounds like a hairdryer!". Now every time I start it up I either do it with the door open or the window down.

Hmmm....good question. I drove 60 miles home to my parent's in it and to be honest it didn't bug me...possibly because I had music playing throughout the journey. The drone is only really noticeable under load...it's fairly faint and you'd probably filter it out after a while

Sounds great. Feels great when your 370 sounds like it should. Enjoy.

(I initially got redirected to some pervy webcam site - suggest you avoid that video hosting site in future).

I thought that's what you guys would like... :stir:

Definitely not a loud humming - I've been in folks cars with horribly droany exhausts and I know what you mean....nothing like that though. I'm based in Edinburgh mate so if your ever up here and want a listen you're more than welcome!

Looks great mate.

I honestly don't notice any drone on mine, and I've already clocked up around 1000 miles with it, mostly on motorways but also plenty around town. It's bedding in nicely too, making a great rasping noise in second and third when being pushed.

And just to add, I know about drone. I had a Clio 172 some years ago with a Powerflow exhaust. You couldn't even have a conversation with a passenger when cruising on the motorway, and the stereo was pretty much defunct. Was still fun mind...

Yeah the drone really isn't a bit big deal....it doesn't concern me at all. It's not like your ears will be bleeding after a motor way cruise....my girlfriend doesn't notice it so maybe it's just my young ears haha (she's 2 years older)

Here's a quick clip I took today of some acceleration in 2nd. Toward the end you hear the sycnro rev kicking in when I do a completely unnecessary down change (can't help it with this system!) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10154076038175548&l=4473117575572838883
