gstraw Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) Hey Just a quick post before I go to bed- got my mid silencer out today and it sounds epic. Just how the car should have been stock. Not too loud at all. Has a metallic rasp similar to the e46 m3. I may add berks high flow cats now to increase the volume. I would recommend people do this mid first for the sake of £60 since it might be all your looking for. The mid silencer is not restrictive in the slightest so no power gains. It's purely there to attenuate higher frequency notes by slowing the gas down at its fastest place- closest to the engine. http://s1000.photobucket.com/user/gurjitsidhu/media/A5C00630-0907-4CD4-A375-0A9309AAE641.mp4.html Edited April 15, 2014 by gstraw Quote
gstraw Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 With a few hundred miles on it, the car sounds sweet as a nut! I'm still to fit my berks cats which will open it up even further but what a difference these mid silencers have made. the start up sounds mean and then it goes back to stock until you get above 3k revs and it sounds really really OEM+. i would recommend people try this before spending a lot on exhaust. cost me just £60. i'll put a video up when the berks are also fitted. hope its not too loud! StevoD Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 would need to here on full chat under load atm it just sounds like the £300 bmw 328i you get down norfolk drift days with the exhausts cut off Quote
AliveBoy Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Under load it will sound much better I think, get a drive by video if you can Quote
gstraw Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Mid silencer out and berks high flow cats installed. It sounds great in the flesh but maybe s bit too raspy for normal driving. May put mid silencers back in Quote
AliveBoy Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 you could get a smaller cylindrical silencer put in straight after the y pipe, which would cut some of the rasp. Silencing at the front cuts rasp, at the back cuts drone Quote
coyoteboy Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Wayyyy too raspy for my taste, I prefer the deep rumble myself. I'd like the OEM exhaust only about double the amplitude! Quote
StevoD Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 still sounds like a e36 with a cut off exhaust to me Quote
gstraw Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 Mid silencer going back in tomorrow. So it will be one system with berks hfc. Let's see how that sounds! Quote
gstraw Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Car is pretty much silent again! Even with stock exhaust and hfc it's really quiet. Going back and getting one mid silencer back out so it will be in the middle of what I had vs what I have now Quote
gstraw Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Latest video with hfc and one mid silencer out. https://vimeo.com/120691648 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote

370Ad Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Get rid of the standard Y Pipe dude its like 1.5" big in the top sections. Will definitely make it breathe better 1 Quote
lukeaJones Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 iv done similar iv got test pipes, y pipe and standard from there and is very raspy but not that loud. I'm getting the mid pipes taken out next week. does anyone know how i could combat the rasp to get more of a burble? Quote

lukeaJones Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Well yeah that's one way but that's a pretty expensive way to do it haha Any on the cheaper side? Quote
sipar69 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Just my opinion but I don't think it's worth skimping on the exhaust for the 370. It's the car's weakest point in my view and yet it's easily sorted if you're prepared to shell out a grand or so. Not a small amount of money, but you get your money's worth from how much impact it makes on overall enjoyment of the car. Quote
cmp999 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Hi GIXXERUK, Just interested to know, is the diffuser painted black or have you had it vinyl wrapped, also have you also done the front fang's? I have the same Le Mans Blue and like the blue/black idea on the bumper's. Also if you don't mind me asking what is the cost? Cheers, Colin. Quote
lukeaJones Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 just to butt in i had my front and back bumpers vinyl wrapped like this and after a week they both began to peel. i have now removed them and redone in plastidip and is brilliant. would highly recommend and cost me only £30 (2 cans of plastidip) Quote
