Taking a long weekend trip to Manchester today, a nice wee break before a few month of no life due to a busy few month at work. Just looking for some recommendations form any locals, We're Staying at postcode M4 5JY.

So if you's can recommend any restaurants and bars near by that would be handy

Also any things to do or see whilst there other than shopping if we get time?

Cheers

I'm not too familiar with Manchester however we've had a couple of good meals in Panama hatty's.

Curry mile is out of town but a good shout.

Friends of ours went to Reds true barbecue earlier this week and said it was enjoyable.

There is a Gaucho's too but never tried the Manchester one.

It really depends what you want out of it as Manchester will cater for both ends of the spectrum and anywhere in between.

if in town go to Akbars on Liverpool street for the best curry in the centre of town. Curry mile has plenty of poor places and its a bit of a way out.

Bars, head up to the northern quarter, good food places there too.. Thomas Street is pretty much the center of the northern qtr.

Cloud 23 bar in the hilton, amazing view but you do pay for it in the drinks.

Best bar for cocktails is Room

Also some nice bars and restaurants around spinning fields.

If you've been then yea it will be the same. But for me we used to go down and bring a boot full of boxes back before hermiston gate opened. That novelty hasn't worn off I prefer the Trafford branch  plus there's no neds serving you lol

Another place for a curry that's further out is nawaabs. If you don't mind travelling and if your patient then you won't regret going. When I say patient you can wait well over an hour for a table at peak times but it's the biggest and best buffet iv ever been to. And that's coming from someone brought up on quality curries

Well Reds BBQ was a disappointment, You can't book a table so they just take your mobile no. then tell you a time to come back for or they will call you before the time if a table is ready sooner. We got told to come back after an hour so went back just over an hour later and got told it would be another ten min and just to grab a drink at the bar for a few min. This would be fine but the bar was already crammed to the point where people were standing around the table at which folk were eating their dinner. After 45min more at the bar we gave up and left to eat elsewhere. poor customer service and we felt sorry for the people having to eat with crowds standing around them constantly bumping into them. until they work out a better system for dealing with the number then its one to avoid. Didn't get time to find the cake shop with the dog cake or curry mile sorry guys just not down there for long enough!
