M13KYF Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 For those who haven't checked it out recently google earth has new satellite imagery instead of the old stuff they had been using. Quote
Chesterfield Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Good find Also another site maps.live.com run by Microsoft has some good aerial photography too, and in some areas goes into furthr detail still (it allows you to switch to birds eye view in those areas). http://maps.live.com It also allows you to look from various different angles too on the birds eye view. I often use it in addition to google earth, and its very handy when househunting, you get a good idea of the plot etc. Quote
sl114 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I was waiting for this to be updated. Going to look now Quote
Rob_Quads Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Google has updated my local area too.......with pictures from over 2 years ago!!! Local.live is 100 times better if it covers your area Quote

Zzzz... Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I live in a field according to microsfot live or a building site according to G-Earth... The house is 5 years old....COME'ON!!!! Quote
sl114 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Mine has my black 350z on the drive! You mean someone elses GREEN 350z outside your house Quote
jonathan73 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Google seems to be about 3 yrs out of date. Local live must be closer to 6 yrs out of date for the UK but less so for the US as my old roof deck is showing the "dance floor" we put up there Quote
Chesterfield Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 The google earth data for my road is about 4 years out of date or perhaps a little more, as the road for my previous home (about 300 yards away) is just a dirt track that has been set out in the field. The MS maps.live data has different versions though. The standard aerial view is again maybe 4-5 years out of date. The birds eye view though has my decking completed and the paving I put down to the side which means it cannot be any older than 10 months. Quote
rmmackfc Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Prefer Maps Live as I can see my house, in Google it's a splodge Quote
jonathan73 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Bird's Eye view???? How do I check that out Quote
Dan Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I still live in a field according to both ms live and google earth ! On Google Earth my wife's car is on the driveway of our old house - AND it's outside her Dad's house too which is kinda cool. It's the worlds only omnipotent Peugeot. Quote
Ian Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Been updated for my area. Now has a yellow Ibiza sat outside my house Quote
