OV53's Progress

Alreet!

So it's been 3 1/2 months since obtaining the blue meanie and after reading through a good few projects I thought I'd have a go at my own build thread.

This is how she looked originally:

avarure2.jpg

She came with a Cobra Sports exhaust that most of you will be aware of my hatred for it, so it was only natural that I was going to change it at some point. But there were one or two things that I needed to do first just to get me into the swing of things.

The wheels were my priority as they had been scuffed and were corroded to bits, I set about getting them booked in. In the meantime I did this.....

And this....

So then it came to the moment for the wheels. They were done at the Wheel Specialist and I chose a satin anthracite finish....

ujyqe2up.jpg

5uranedu.jpg

....which I am extremely happy with!

I then decided that the centre console was in dire need of refreshment so I stripped that out and gave it a new lease of life....

rehyvyte.jpg

....which I like but I can see me doing another colour next time I'm home (the missus paints her nails so why shouldn't I paint my interior?)

So then an opportunity came up for me to do the much needed exhaust change. Adrian (octet) was stripping his supercharged monster down to fund his 370z purchase. For those of you that don't know Adrian, he was the owner of a batshizit crazy supercharged mint green (turquoise) 350z with one of the only Amuse R1 Titanium exhaust systems in the country. Seeing as these are rare as rocking horse cack I had to have it. So after a week or so, and then a few days more getting a couple of splits rewelded, the exhaust was in and I was ready to unlease the fury Mitch!

It also came with a Motordyne resonated XYZ pipe which adds to the quietness down low but adds a little extra something when kicking the arse off it.

I will upload some videos of how it sounds soon, just haven't had anyone around to film it (the missus point blank refuses to be involved in something "so sad"

So a month went by with no real progress and then I decided to change the air filter for a Cosworth one....

asaguhan.jpg

Then I ordered a 3/4 plate for the front and a new back plate (check out the decal at the bottom!)

So up until now that is where we are at with OV53. Not as far as I would like her to be but only getting 2 weeks at home I have only really had under 2 months to get this work done whilst also renovating the front end of my house.

So to finish off a couple of photos of the car prepped before Trax last weekend (about 15 minutes before the heavens opened)

Cheers! I had a good head start with the Nismo kit (genuine) already fitted and the wheels, I've just had to set about putting my own stamp on it.

Hopefully next month will see the front bumper repaired and headlight squirters smoothed over. I am toying with the idea of respraying her but I'll have to see how much dough I make this time away.

Wheels look good after the refurb! Exhaust as loud as it was last time i heard it?

What about wrapping it? I'm still thinking that will be next on my list, either that or coilies!

It's only loud when the arse gets kicked off it, so no it's nowhere near as loud. In fact as my mother quoted "oh yes, it's a much softer sound than the last one" so it gets the seal of approval!

Alreet mate, nice car cause i've seen it & heard it  when we had a mini north east meet.

Ha! The sound is a thing of beauty! Just have to get yours kitted out now marra.... ;)

Thinking of trying to get the ball rolling on a Wednesday night meet when I'm back next, maybe up the Metro Centre way as there is an American Muscle meet every Wednesday up there.

Could make for an interesting Pearl Harbour style invasion once a month if we can get numbers!

I'll start a thread this afternoon.

  • 1 year later...

Alreet me bonny bairns!

Been a long time since I was last on here and there have been some huge changes in my life (the reason I disappeared) and huge changes to the car (as a result of the life changes!)

My life tipped on it's head in March 2014 and I disappeared from all of my social media and forum activities for a while whilst I tried to come to terms with where my life was headed. All projects on the car kind of got put on hold in September 2013 apart from a set of HKS Hipermax RS coilovers and when March 2014 came I went off the radar. Took me about a month of moping about and feeling a bit sorry for myself before I turned my focus back to the car and to be fair if it wasn't for the projects that followed and the resulting madness that you are about to be subjected to then I have no idea if i'd be here at all, OV53 saved me!

So let's get started from where I left off.....

I have had the full car resprayed by Falcon Performance and all rust and dings sorted. I had the door handles and zed badge at the back as well as the mouth of my Nismo V1 front bumper all finished in satin black too.

About 5 days after this another member who is a good mate told me he was selling his bonnet, a Varis carbon number to be exact! Well with the direction I am taking the car it would have been rude not to get it, even if I did have a freshly painted standard bonnet!

Once this was done it was time to get the car prepared for our show that we organised at Croft Circuit in September 2014. So we set about stripping every interior panel apart from the dash to send off to Hydromonkeys for hydrodipping. While this was getting done I left the car with Monty at BassMechanix to do a monster custom install that would perfectly reflect who I am and also do something that you won't see in many, if any, cars at the minute. I then took off to New York for 3 weeks to get away from the madness at home and settle my brain. While I was there I picked up an AEM cold air intake, however upon realising that I need to do alot more work than originally thought I just installed it as a short ram intake due to time constraints.

So then it was time to pick up all of my interior from the dippers, 2 days before the show! This was my living room while I awaited the nod from Monty at BassMechanix.

24 hours later it was time to get cracking with the knacking!

The things that were letting the car down though were the gear knob, the interior lights, the headlight and the seats.....so we sorted that out with some Sparco EVO2 seats and 32 blue LEDs in the dome lights.

Oh yeah and the piece de resistance was the install......

With 2 Hertz HX250 10" subs, a set of Rockford Fosgate SQ competition components and two Rockford Fosgate amps powering it all, Monty has made the car properly bounce! It has been trimmed in Alcantara, the sub enclosure is a completely custom tubular creation which allows the cabin to become the box, we had a custom plexiglass plaque made up which says BassMechanix loves Pacman (me) and it lights up just the engraving with remote changing LEDs. The bass is both punchy and deep. Monty is an absolute genius when it comes to achieving the sound you want as well as innovative creations aesthetically.

Overall I'm absolutely over the moon with my achievements this year but it is in no way finished, now for the performance upgrades and we can see where things get to come show season! Be nice to hear what you all have to say!

Actually come to think of it I have some video clips and photos of your car from that mini meet in durham we invaded. I'll try and get them online soon. I have plans to make a car scene cinematic style video/documentary this summer, I'll message you at some point to see if you want to get involved.

Glad you like it man! Yeah the door cards were meant to divide opinion, I'm a comic book geek so the Japanese Anime was right up my street. Not too sure if there are any cars that have gone to the extremes I have with the hydrodipping and it should put me in a good position for next year!

This was the door cards fresh put of the dippers!
