Very Suspicious!!

Check out the GT4 on this list:

http://dealerservices.autotrader.co.uk/16286/stock.htm

Where are the cruise control buttons?

Crappy Jap lights?

Are those tailpipes stock?

The heated seats button look in a different format to mine?

Uk rear bumper would suggest a uk car but description does not state either way? I thought all GT4's came with cruise? Could it of been in a shunt and had anew steering wheel?

hmmmmmmmmm

look down the list they have 3 kuro , all jap imports- no question, theyve dressed up one to look like a gt4 , all have uk bumpers on the rear, which is quite strange, very few people would change a jdm bumper for a uk spec one for cosmetic reasons , and on 3 cars aswell at the same dealer :headhurt: - somethings not right, however, they might have a genuine gt4 and just been lazy and used the interior shots from the jdm one -who knows

Maybe its jap anniversary edition, and not a uk GT4? If so, very snidey. I don't like the way they have taken pis of the fronts minus the number plates. Its obvious that the mounting brackets are for square plates. Non of there ads say uk or jdm. I really don't like them. Putting uk bumpers on is very underhand. I bet they got them for about £11k and are looking to sell them for about £18k a piece :surrender:

Trading standards anyone?

"Maclure Performance, specialists in New & Used cars sales of High Performance, Sports and 4X4 Vehicles. Maclure Performance has been importing vehicles direct from Japan for over 10 years and our dealers have over 35 years experience in exporting cars around the globe.

Our managing director personally travels to Japan on a regular basis to hand pick our vehicles in conjunction with our agents to ensure only high quality stock is purchased."

I would have doubts about any importer that was cosmetically altering cars to make them look EU.

Prices are a tad bit high aren’t they???

Hmmm, very suspect! :sly:

That's definately a JDM (notice no headlamp washers and JDM spec HVAC controls).

It could well be a JDM 35th anniversary model but with a UK bumper and badges. The lights are OEM and I think that they might have been an option in Japan at the time.

Mind you, there is no mention in the add that it is a GT4. It is way overpriced though!

That GT4 one does appear however have the HR engine on an 05 plate, which would indicate GT4 wouldnt it?

Or did the Japanese market get the HR engine in other 05 models?

The steering wheel - if it is from that car, is not correct though.

Edit: just noticed the same as above - no headlamp washers. The interior shot could have been from a different car and a mistake, but not the front shot.

Someone is going to get shafted if they dont know exactly what they are looking for.

There is a GM roadster on there I notice - clearly an import, and has had the UK rear put on - and marked up at clearly UK prices.

Makes me sick that some unsuspecting sole may get ripped off.

I know its buyer beware, but still - there are ethical ways of making money and dressing up imports with UK parts and sticking UK price tags on is NOT one of them.

They also don't mention the number of the vehicle, which seems to me to be the first thing GT4 adverts tell you.

You would have thought they would have taken a picture of the plaque

I don't think the JDM GT4's were given numbers

Hold on guys ... am i missing something?...

The ad does not say it is a GT4 (Edit... it does say anniversary edition ops... )

you can buy the alloy wheel in ebay and have them fitted...

I nearly did not long ago...

it may be overpriced, but just because it has GT4 rims does not mean it is trying to deceive is it?

Also I like the RR LED in silver ( same as the RED 06 model), original accessory option available only in JAPAN ( quite exclusive... ) again I am trying to get my hands on some... would go quite well on a GM maybe not so good on a kuro...

Have just checked my Japanese Fairlady Z 2005 Catalogue (always one anorak isn't there) and there is no mention of a GT4 being released in Japan (Only Version T, S and ST). Also, as previously noticed, I can confirm there is no cruise control in any of the pictures of the ST spec in the brochure.

Looking at reviews on the web of the anniversary edition from the US and Australia it would appear it was available in yellow, silver and black. Had an increase in power of 15kW. Torque down by 10Nm. Black leather is fitted as standard along with electronic traction and stability control, 18 inch wheels and tyres, bigger brakes sourced from Brembo, a six-stack in-dash CD player, climate-control air-conditioning and cruise control.

So basically what I’m reading into this is aside from the power increase and torque reduction the anniversary got all the options which for the most part we get as stock on the GT model.

Now back on topic, if the US and AU anniversary models got cruise control then the JDM model should of as well so in conclusion I would say this model advertised is either not an anniversary or the wheel has been replaced. Does a blown airbag in a Z require a new steering wheel?

There was a 35th anniversary though I beleive, which is what the car is advertised as.

Though anyone looking at the website would do well to miss the fact that they are import vehicles. Dressing them all with UK rears seems very strange indeed though.

Checked the www.nissan.co.jp

the press article for the JDM says the Anniversary edition is basically an ST version with alloys and leather and power hike...

The ST version in Japan does not have cruise as standard, therefore it is likely it is a real one... with accessory RR lamps and different exhaust...

As for Euro Bumper or Japan Bumper... some people will prefer always to make their car look Euro rather than Jap...

ask leTank... he started with a Japan base but i think by now he's got it more or less up to EURO spec...an excellent standard looking motor...

I stand corrected.

True but as an importer the seller should be advertising it as imported and altered to look Euro. If it were me I would use that as a selling point as those alterations alone are not cheap.

I think any trader that is changing ALL the bumpers to UK spec is either very confident that every single buyer will apreciate this, or (and in my opinion more likely) as they are charging UK prices for the cars, they may be hoping that some people just wont twig.

They are definitely overpriced. The roadster is an automatic, therefore JDM (despite the UK rear bumper), and they want £26k for it! :scare:

And - would you trust a car dealer who still doesn't know how to spell warranty? :)

They should definatly be informing that buyers the cars have been modified as those changes 'should' legally be declared to any insurance company as the car is no longer a standard car. The fact they are standard UK panels make no difference.

True. The fact that they have not mentioned such things in the ad makes you wonder what they would actually tell you when buying it. Imagine you agreed to buy it and go to sort out the insurance and they tell you its an import, what sort of excuses would they give?

The scary thing is 2 yrs ago I would of been none the wiser to the differences and actually lost a £500 deposit I put down on a JDM, not realising there were even such things!!
