I had a wee joust with one of those a couple of months ago on one of my "private dual-carriageways". Lovely looking and sounding car. I expected it would have destroyed me in a drag, but it didn't pull away from me as much as I thought it would. The driver gave me and my trusty steed a respectful nod as we parted ways at one of my "private roundabouts". The zed bows to no-one!!

Personally not a big fan of the AMV8. To me although it looks like a DB9 but it's not a propoer Aston, e.g. a Jaguar derived V8.

 

If I was spending that kind of money there's other cars which offer more, e.g. M6...

was watching a repeat of the TG episode on the Isle of Man where they tested the 911, M6 and AMV8.

 

to get the M6 to use all the 501 HP (!!!) took them half an hour, it was so complicated to set it up!

 

They were disappointed by the AMV8 too, apart form looks and sound.

 

The 911 apart from being £15k cheaper, was also 5-6 seconds faster on the short trial they had (which makes it even worse for the other 2 cars!)

380 bhp

302 lb ft

175 mph

0-62 5.0 sec

 

Another has:-

4.3 V8

483 bhp

343 lb ft

196+ mph

0-62 4.0 sec

yup the 380 of the AM is pee poor compared to other V8 outputs

The torque of the Am is poor too. My Bimmer has 360 lb ft and has 0-62 mph time of 5.2 secs. And I have a back seat. As I said not a proper Aston.

 

As for the idiots on TG, would you expect them to be able to handle the iDrive. Personally I play with mine without looking.....ooh er....
