P3 Service Costs - Can't justify extra cost over P1/P2

I still get peeved at the cost of dealer servicing (knowing what's actually involved) . - even though Nissan are supposedly cheaper than most.

 

I took my car to my cheapest local dealer for a P1 last June and they robbed me £135 (I provided my own oil).

I now need a P3 and all that's really extra for me in the P3 over and above a P1 are a couple more checks and the brake fluid change (of which i'm supplying my own, so only labour), and they want £220 from me!!!!

 

So to sum up, that's £85 labour to change the brake fluid and tick 5 boxes to say they've checked emissions and the coolant is ok etc.. gggrrrrr - It aggrevates me when I know I could do it all myself, but I don't get the stamp. Thinking whether I should just take oil and fluid to my local garage and they'll do it and stamp the book (not a Nissan stamp) for about £40. It's now out of Warranty so no effect for Nissan, just re-sale issues?? Would you be bothered, if the stamp wasn't Nissan?

 

Basically, nothing will be wrong with a 3.5yr old car so i'm paying £220 for some monkey to change my own oil, my own brake fluid and get a free cup of Cofee- thats what it comes down to!!!!!!! :angry: - I can think of better ways to spend the cash.

I know what you saying but all main dealers are the same you just paying for the vehicle checks and the NISSAN stamp. But the 350z is quite cheap to have seviced a p1 on a micra costs around £150 !!. If your car is out of warranty I would service it yourself using genuine nissan bits, or a 350 specialist. Just my 2p worth.

i also couldnt beleive what the dealer where asking for a service so now that mine is out of warrenty i supply all the materials to my local mechanic and he carries out the service for a fraction of the price allowing me to spend more money on things that are not included in the nissan servicing like gear box oil change etc..

Ive just had a P1 3 year service & it cost me £211. £220 for a P3 is a bargain compared to what we get charged around here

 

My warranty ends next month so it will be done by a jap specialist from now on

Cheers - I'm going to ring around to try and better that price, but I might bite my tongue this time!, just to get a P3 stamp in the book for re-sale.

But the next P1 (just an oil change really), I think i'll defo do myself.

I've just paid £300 for my P3. But if it gets me the quality of service and help I've had from this dealer so far over the butt monkeys at the last place then I'm happy.

My wifes Jeep P2 service was £450. They tried to charge me £20 labour to change the centre brake light bulb. Something about being difficult to get to. I went balistic.....

Chaps,,,you dont have to take it to a Nissan Main dealer for service , even if your car is still in warranty.. as long as Genuine nissan parts are used (filters etc ) and the garage used is a bone fide garage..

no warranty will be invalidated..

 

 

also in my experience many local garages will offer a far better and caring service than some rough and ready main dealer workshops

Exactly, and I'm fine with that, but people who don't understand what's involved, like to see official Nissan stamps in the book, so if it helps the sale when I come to sell, then I suppose it might be worth swollowing my pride!

whereabouts are you situated in the Midlands , I know a few I would trust

I can't seem to find any difference between a P2 and a P3 on a 350Z, so how do they justify the difference in cost!???

 

I'm near Birmingham/Coventry/Leicestershire area.

Thats what they are relying on; ignorance. Why not just get a jap specialist to do it and educate the buyer?
