New Z and potential issues...

Hi there,

I'm new to the forums and have just bought my first 350z! :) - It's a 56 plate GT coupe.

However, I've noticed an issue with the car already :(. In 1st gear, when you drive up to around 4-5k revs it pops out of gear quite hard. It makes a loud noise like hitting a pot hole. Also, very occasionally it'll make a slight knock when changing into 2nd :-( - any ideas what might be happening?

I need to find a garage and get it checked out but would like to find a specialist on the Z in my area (wiltshire). I've found a place online called Horsham Developments and wondered if anyone has used them or knows what they are like?

Cheers

Jez at H-Dev is a top bloke, definitely knows his stuff

A notchy 1st to 2nd change is fairly normal, although less common on the later cars. The popping out of gear is not something I've heard of before, so I'd be getting that looked at asap if I were you.

Jumping out of gear certainly needs investigation - not something that has featured a regular issue.

Horsham Developments are a trader on here and highly regarded and sure 'Jez' there will be able to advise as to what neeeds doing.

Do you have any form of warranty or forewarned by the seller if it was a private buy.

Oh, and welcome to the forum

Thanks for the replies, I'll definitely give Jez a call :)

I got the car from a private seller so no form of warranty and no pre-warning from him either! :(

Also, the car has got a standard gear nob fitted...

Dunno if this happens on the zed, but my Clio 182 had the same gear jumping problem and turned it to be a knackered gearbox mount... Good luck

Lol them engines use gearbox mounts like service items.
