taffyjason Posted April 25, 2012 Share Posted April 25, 2012 After scouring the threads for actual power gains for various intakes, im probably more confused than before. 1/ i was led to believe that the stock intake is about as good as it gets. 2/ some threads claim average of 10-15bhp with kits like K&N Typhoon, Apexi Power etc I know manufacturers always give amazing claims, but would really like real world honest figures Anyone here care to give their experiences? this will help me decide on whether to get a kit or not. DannyBoy Posted April 25, 2012 Share Posted April 25, 2012 The velocity stack is the little trumpet (inside the airbox, so you can't see it) that flows the air into the intake pipe after it's gone through the filter. It's an aerodynamic tool to decrease turbulence in the intake system and improve flow. The 2006 airboxes had a bigger (better) velocity stack that the 03-05 ones, so the best possible intake for performance is a 2006 airbox. You can try and get a used 2006 one, or you can buy a kit from RT customz that retrofits a bigger velocity stack onto an earlier airbox. PPF= Performance Panel Filter? The difference is probably about the same as getting out the car and leaning on the back of it in BHP power terms ie negligible. As every induction thread concludes - if every possible horse under the bonnet means the world to you, leave it stock. Otherwise induction kit to make it sound like a proper sports car.
