Hey All

As I mentioned in another forum here on 350z, I just purchased a UK 04 350z GT yesterday and want to get it cleaned up and running like it should do.

Although equipped with a Bose stereo (which I've experianced in previous cars) there's no evidence of any typical Bose bass.

Any ideas?

The airbag light is flashing.

What's the fix as I read this was a common problem?

The last service was carried out 3 months ago at Kwick Fit with just FULL SERVICE written in the service wallet. Although all previous stamps in the book point at a good FSH I'd like to get the oils changed for some peace of mind.

What's the best spec of oil (and on-line supplier if possible) for the diff, gearbox and engine?

It's got an aftermarket exhaust fitted. I'm not sure the make of it, but getting down on my hands and knees I noticed the tips can be changed (although welded), and they're the bits I have the issue with as I prefer the more subtle diameter of the stock tips.

Can the tips be changed by themselves?

Where do you recommend purchasing some good quality subtle tips from?

Is there any recommendation for a good local independent specialist garage in the IG1 area?

Thanks in advance for your answers / tips and suggestions.

The bose is an easy fix...... get a new Head Unit and speakers

Airbag light ..... try moving the seat forward and checking the connections

Kwik Fit :scare: ... I would go to a decent establishment for a service... PM :pmzmanalex: or Oilman for servicing parts

Post up some pics of your exhaust and I am sure someone will tell you what it is

Thanks DoogyRev

There must be an alternative to replacing all the ICE just to get the sub working - there must be :headhurt:

I'll post a couple of pics of the pipe, but they will be reliant on the flash as I'll only be able to take them on returning from work tomorrow.

I'll wait till the weekend before having a look behind the seat as it needs a thorough clean anyway. B)

bose sub fix, there is a guide but basically if you access the small amp behind the sub and to the left, you can open it and you will see a large relay, jam a bit of paper or card between the casing and the relay, it sounds a bit ghetto but trust me 99% of the time thats the problem mines has been "fixed" like this for over a year now :yahoo:

1) put the driver seat forward to give you room.

2) using a flat head screwdriver, pop the subwoofer cover off - starting at the top.

3) using a 10mm socket, remove the subwoofer and move it to the side. Disconnecting it completely is up to you, but not necessary.

4) using a 10mm socket, "loosen" the 2 bolts that secure the amplifier and slide it up and out to release it.

5) disconnect the amplifier and remove it from the car.

6) remove the 4 phillips screws that holds the amplifier to it's cover.

7) using a flat head screw driver, pop the amplifier open- there's a little slot at 1 end of the amp to pop it open. then swing the lid open like a book.

8) located inside the amp, there is a gray or white box on the circuit board- that is the problematic relay!

9) i took a small piece of paper and folded it up to match the size of the relay. I wrapped it in electrical tap to keep it from unfolding and then taped it to the top of the relay. When the lid of the amp is reinstalled, it will push against the paper, putting downward pressure onto the relay.

10) Now, re-assemble

airbag reset, this worked for me,

1. Turn ignition switch from OFF to ON.

2. Air Bag warning lamp is on for 7 seconds and turns off, then turn ignition switch OFF within 1 second of the lamp turning off.

3. After ignition switch is turned OFF, wait for more than 3 seconds.

4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 two more times. (Perform 3 times in total.)

5. Turn Ignition switch ON.

6. The SRS lamp has been reset it.

hope this helps mate

You my friend :drunk: are an absolute STAR

The only problem is that getting in late from work, these jobs will have to wait till the weekend, but with your detailed step by step guide, how can I go wrong??

Thanks heaps, I'll let you know how I get on at the end of the weekend.

no worries mate, like i said these worked for me, good luck

It all worked :teeth:

The Bose sounds more Bose like, and the airbag light is a memory - I can't believe the previous owner didn't bother finding out how to deal with these irratations :bangin:.

What I need to do next is:

Get the engine, gearbox and diff oils changed

Get the tips of the exhaust changed back to the stock ones.

For the fluid changes I need a decent specialist independent garage somewhere near IG1 (Ilford) so any assistance would be appreciated by means of a recommendation.

For the exhaust tips I was asked for some pics:

Great info!

After taking the skin from my knuckles by punching the panel behind my chair while driving I decided to do it on Sunday and it now works perfectly. Used it as an excuse to go out for a ride to see if it would cut out. Hasn't missed a beat yet (excuse the pun)

Exhaust looks a Scorpion. It's a good budget box and I would personally keep it if I purchased the car with it, although, like you, i'd chop the tips off and get better looking ones welded on. Any decent exhaust place should be able to do that for you.
