Sounds like some chemical or agent has got on it or was used to clean it and it's now disintegrating the material. Quote
jumping350 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 pmsl pimped driving gloves, reckon i could get one with a zed emblem on them? they look like there made from wicker!!id be banned from every Z meet Quote
jumping350 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Me thinks it might need a good clean sir. i think the whole steering wheel would start to disintigrate ,can clean and wipe it fine normally but like i say when temp drops goes all sticky. Maybe your right chemical agent could be problem but its only on the top section of steering wheel sides bits are fine and that where i usually hold wheel.!! im scared now no im not that sweaty at all!!its weird havent done loads of miles and normally smoth as normal but since got colder its got sticky on the top section of steering wheel What have you been up to in your Zed................ Now that would be telling Quote

rtbiscuit Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 sweat is corrosive over time on leather. but it being on the top would suggest not your hands being responsible. possibly something spilt on it, or you've had something on your hands that the leather doesn't like. Quote
Neilp Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Stop dogging and if you do, wipe up the mess Quote
jumping350 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 haha dogging gets mentioned a lot on here interesting ......... dont even thinks its possible in the zed anyway, looks like new steering wheel then and some wicker gloves hope its not a mission to change over i quite like the ones with the orange leather bit at bottom would match my seats Quote

bronzee Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Could possibly be old grease off mechanic's hands, having a detrimental effect on the leather. Go gently, but use a goooood quality leather cleaner (should remove , then a good quality leather conditioner. Quote
jumping350 Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 most likely my hands mate had a thought when i changed my brakes could of been then when it happened. i think the top bits beyond repair now by the looks of it...more money on goodies Quote
