Finished Rays

As many of you may know, I have been looking to upgrade the standard alloys to a set of Rays for a little while now.

Not wanting to pay a fortune for a set, I posted on here and managed to get a full set, it pretty good condition for a very fair price last Thursday, thanks Martin W!! I arranged for a courier to collect the next day and on Monday they turned up with me at 8am. Although I could have got them straight onto the car as the slight imperfections were not too bad, I really wanted something different in terms of colour and finish. I had toyed with the idea of having them Black but had gone off that idea. Having seen Wasso's wheels, anthracite seemed like a possibility but couldn't quite make up my mind.

Having searched a few threads, I stumbled across one from helimeddaz and loved what the wheel specialist had done for him so decided to go down a similar route. Wait, no that's a lie, I decided to rip off exactly what he had done, minus the polished inner rim.

Took some pics to the Wheel Specialist in Birmingham and explained what I was after. Also had a few PMs with helimeddaz as wasn't sure whether I was doin the right thing. Well, that was until today when I went to collect them and have the tyres swapped and the wheels put on the car. Love them!!!

Here are some pics and No, I didn't wash the car first. lol

From a distance they look okay but when you look at the close up it's a different story, I'd leave it for a week or so and see if it annoys the crap out of you :)

Thanks mate.

Only thing I am not totally sure about are the centre caps. May have to get them sprayed in the smoked Chrome aswell, what do you think?

Yeah I had seen them but the backing is still "rays silver" which is what I am not sure of. If they where the same colour as the spokes (smoked chrome) or even the same shade of silver as the outer rim then think they would match a little better.

I am sure the place that sprayed them would do me a pretty good deal, if not free, to spray the centre caps.

Ok, so I gave it about a week.

Centre caps pissing me off. Ordered some of the Z ones that turned up yesterday and handed them over to the wheelspecialists today (after removing the Z) to have them done in the same smoked chrome. They even agreed to do them for no additional charge.

Hopefully collect them Saturday so will get the pictures up.

Looking good, although like you say caps should have been done in the first place really.

Needs lowering and spacers now.

I'll get my coat before I get blamed for any more suggestions

Because of the method used, they couldn't do caps without wiping out all of the detail of the Nissan / Z logo. Now that I have ordered the Z caps, I have popped the Z off first for painting.

As for lowering, yes, I tend to agree, looks like it rides higher now than with the standard wheels (obviously an illusion)

As for spacers, you have me worried cause I have 20mm front and 25mm fitted already.
