Just been ringing round for some insurance quotes to see what the damage is as I'm thinking of buying an import 350z.

Best so far is Sky Insurance at £941

26, 5yrs no claims

Sound about right? any advice on others to try?

Im paying £860, im 22 with 3yrs no claims With Bell.co.uk. Thats with a £250 excess and all the legal cover

thats the stuff ian, ill need them when mine arrives. elephant was the best 4 me so fat but i think bell may just have beaten it. They OK with mods? think 'Elephant' avoid them like an american with a tranquilizer gun and a t-shirt saying 'piano keys inc'!

Bell and Admiral are OK with some mods. Its the performance ones they don't like but they often are replace with standard.

I'm only a year older and only paying £450 but thats in a safe postcode. Whats the first part of your postcode?

Admiral, Diamond and Elephant are all the same co. Take a look at their websites and spot the only difference - the colour!!

IMO, avoid them like the plague. I've just got passed a threat of legal action from them, still no explanation as to what they claim I've done wrong and a letter saying they were cancelling my cover! :scare: All because they had an internal misunderstanding.:thumbdown:

Now, find a local broker you can build a relationship with if you're planning on modding. A little extra now could save you loads of money and hassle in the near future. :)

An import would cost more tho

£20 more when I asked about it. Originally wanted £1100 but after a bit if negotiation and customer loyalty got it down to £860. :yahoo:

Just got an online quote from Bell's for £321.90, with legal cover etc. and excess of £350. It was £338 to include guaranteed NCB.

My current insurer, Highway Insurance, charged £346 in April this year. (cheap post code, old man, no problems):teeth:

sounds like the Sky quote is not too bad then. I'm currently with Adrian Flux for my Celica but they're quoting me over £2000 for the Z!!. A-Plan were pretty good at £987 but Sky are still the best, lower excess too.

Flux wanted 3500 for the z. Ive never been quoted anything remotley sensible by them for any car ive had. Cant see me moving my insurance away from bell anytime soon, Every renewal tends to be unbeatable.

Yeah its strange how they vary so much. Flux was the best for the Celica but no good for the Z. Sky was no good on the Celica but the best for the Z. Oh well, just shows its best to shop around.

Found an insurer, just got to find myself a Z to insure!

Whereabouts in South Wales are you Ian? I'm in Newport

The wife bought her micra from there last year and we weren't that impressed either. They don't seem to get many Z's in though.

I usually start looking through confused.com. the JDMs had fewer insures but when you say it a UK model Admiral came out top plus with a low excess. I gave them a call and surprised they did imports but didn't advertise.

They gave me my best rate I could find out the mainstream companies.

Would be interested in a list of specialist import insures to see if I can beat them but guess not much room for reduction given I'm a 30 something with an OAPs 9years NCB.
