Toyosports Exhaust?????

I bought one of these off eBay last week for £156, which I thought was a bargain. It looked fab and I was delighted. Garage has tried to fit it today and it knocks the bodywork in multiple places and the tail pipes are all wrong. Really dissappointed as the old one has a hole in it, which is being welded up and put back on. Have I been stupid and bought the wrong thing? My Zed is a UK 55 plate (Dec) manual... why doesn't it fit?!

Because with exhausts, as in life, you get what you pay for I'm afraid.

I only ever buy car items from trusted sellers, who I have researched online if I know of no-one who has used them before.

All I know is that the man from the garage said it knocks all over place and he wouldn't know where to start trying to sort it out as its just too bad. He's very experienced so its not like he doesn't know what he's doing.

I did research it and lots of other people seem to have used this Toyosports exhaust, so no idea why it doesn't fit my car.

How many other people paid £150 for it?

Its most likely a knock-off one.

Looking back on this thread people have paid £200, £160 and £149. The one I bought is usually £249 on Buy it Now and I got it cheap cos it was a 99p start auction.

Anyway, doesn't really matter now, as the old one is back on and I'll be asking for a refund! Shafted! Ah well, thought it was too good to be true!

I would definitely go to an exhaust specialist and get it fitted. You sure the mechanic tried hard enough? Everyone's had minor fitment issues, that's what you get for buying a cheap exhaust. Once fitted correctly however, the noise and looks are perfect! If you ain't far from Santa Pod, I can get one of my boys to fit it for you?

The guy is very knowledgeable and yes he tried hard enough; in total spent 5.5 hours on the damned thing (and taking old one off). So i've been landed with a HUGE bill and got the old exhaust back on!! The fitment issues were major rather than minor, it was knocking all over the place and the tail pipes were very wonky etc. He didn't want to do a cowboy job on it and leave me unhappy.

Thanks for offer re Santa Pod, but I'm in South West Wales - bit far.

Never mind, I've actually decided to sell my lovely Zed now anyway :-(

Well I got my mid pipe and backbox from the bay for £112. Fitting was not too bad, no worse than trying to remove to stock original really. The mount on the mid pipe needed a tweak, and drivers side tailpipe sat higher so made some spacers (4 washers in a stack) to fit between the hanger and chassis to lower it a little , Job done.

It sounds alot more up for it than the stock one, although I would like a little more, Would a 'Y' pipe alter the sound any, or do I need to replace cats as well?.

Overall I would recommend if your in the market for a cheap repair to replace a rusted stock item.

Cheers.

I wish I'd have found this site before I just bought my Toyo exhaust.

I've had it fitted this morning at a garage.

Back box is wonky and it rattles aweful at low revs.

Hassan if your still about I'm not far from santa pod or any advice off anyone would be appreciated.

Hi Smokey ~ if you hover your cursor over forum members names you can see when they where last active & other things.

Hassan was last on here 23 January this year so it's been a few weeks. Best thing is to send him a PM as that will also send him an email to let him know a member has contacted him & you may get a response quicker that way.

not to resurrect an old thread, but this is the exhaust which came with my zed. So I cant comment on how it went on, however it seems to be on ok! the sound is great, and cracking under a heavy foot. If you are tempted by them, don't be too put off by some of the comments, as I am one of the lucky ones :)

My Zed came with a new Toyosports exhaust fitted by the Alba Motors, the dealer I got it from, sounded good but not loud enough for me  , so took it over to Pipe Dynamics in Fife and had the resonator deleted.............now we're talking B)
