matth76 Posted January 19, 2010 Share Posted January 19, 2010 Hi I occasionally see parts I want to order from America. Who here has ordered from America and can tell me how the import tax works? Is it the same rate as VAT, ie 17.5% on the total cost inc shipping or is it calculated in some other way - and how do I pay it and when? Say for example I order something and get it delivered to my local garage (because they would be fitting the parts) would they have to pay the import tax because they have taken receipt of the goods - how does it all work? Some take payment at time of delivery. Some invoice in arrears. Factor in around 22% (for tax and duty) of the total including the shipping cost.
