Ian Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 bah, looks like i'll have to stick to shell. im more of a morrisons man myself. Would just feel wrong shopping there. I only ever fill my work car up at morrisons, Have earned £60 in vouchers so far this year Quote
chris84 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 have used vpower for the past 3 tanks of juice. filled up on tesco 99 yesterday and saved £3 with the 5p per litre discount. 50 miles down on tesco fuel and i cannot feel any noticable difference. probably stick with this now as the club card points are much more rewarding than my vpower card. goatboy Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 not sure if anyones elses local Tesco do this but my local one actually put their fuel prices up a couple of pence when they have the 5p off a litre deal going on. Cheeky beggars! Still works out a bit cheaper than my local shell but only a bout 2p a litre, which is only £1.20 saving on a whole tank... Quote

A few people have mentioned that vpower is more expensive than tesco 99. I haven't found that. Still have my past two receipts for the past 7 days petrol. Tesco 99 - 112.9 VPower - 111.9 Not noticed them put the price up but I have noticed that the price does vary between the two tesco petrol stations that are within a mile of each other near me. Quote
rich5259 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 tesco's at northampton 114.9 less 5p off shell Daventry 119.9 - because the make an offset from the price of 97RON at the local TOTAL station and not from their own 95RON Quote
ZedJohn Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Ouch. Just limped into Sainsbury's with 16 miles of fuel left, filled her up on 97 RON (the super-ist Sainsburys do) and it cost £75! I will not be running that low again on fuel! My poor wallet Quote

My local Tesco is never cheaper than my local shell without a voucher. Currently I think shell is 111.9 and Tesco is 114.9, but thats because they are doing the 5p off a litre, so it does work out a little cheaper. When they stop doing the 5p off a litre the tesco price will drop back down to match the shell price normally. BP ultimate however is mega expensive, about 119 at my local garage!! I don't actually do that many miles though so I don't fill up that often... Quote
jerry3167 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I hear it on very good authority, that Tesco 99RON is V-power re-branded as tescos own Quote

I will not be running that low again on fuel! My poor wallet Either you had a lot more than 16miles left in the tank or it isn't full. You'd have got something like 77 or 78 litres in if it's full. However if you are only paying £1/litre please tell us where you live so we can all get cheap fuel Quote
ZedJohn Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 £1/litre - if only! I remember the days of 69.9p a litre. Ahhh those were the days... Quote
Chris`I Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 £1/litre - if only! I remember the days of 69.9p a litre. Ahhh those were the days... I remember the days when it was less than 50p/litre! Bet there are some others here that know when it was a lot less than that! Quote
rich5259 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I remember when it was 15 shillings and 6 pence a gallon thats 17p/litre Quote
lamby Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 the v power card is free so aint no harm in doing it i have one too i use it whenever i go to shell i often use tesco but my local one has been shut for ages now i will use BP also if its closer but mainly tesco or shell for my juice Quote
