My New Hobby - Filming

Hi guys, took up a new hobby about 4 months ago, wanted to get into filming as an extension to graphic design and marketing portfolio, never realised it would be so hard. Spent a month learning an editing software Final cut pro and then bought a camera 2 months ago canon Xh-a1 but only got round yesterday to use it for the first time. Taken a one day lesson in lighting so am a complete beginner. Mum got me a Mac Pro 8 core and two apple monitors for xmas so finally had a decent machine to work on. This is my first real go so not fantastic but I will get there eventually, really just learning the camera and messing about with it.

 

The guy is one of my fighters, he was bored so told him to come along whilst I did some quick shooting. Was absolutely freezing yesterday. Did this all in about an hour from shoot to edit then took another 40mins to upload. Hopefully i will get better so I can do some cool filming of your cars at a meet. Here is the clip:

Ha ha not quite just interested in a different way of marketing products, rather than setting up adverts for mags, id like to get into adverts for web or even one day T.V also interested in doing a few short films and entering them in Cannes Festival but am far away from that at the mo

It's actually very good Jay. I was expecting lots of camera shake and crappy background music but it was quite professional.

Thanks Adam, have spent a fortune on equipment so far, really into it, just purchased a 35mm adapter so can mess about with depth of field to get more film look.

 

Hardest thing im trying to get my head around since need to purchase some 35m lenses mainly nikons, is what focal length and apature is. Have a rough idea but still confused in some areas, if anyone can shed any light on this

can't help with Nikon, but my brother works for Cannon LMK if you need anything

I know.. she loves me lol, its a 3.0ghz processor, 8gbram, 4 x 1tb hardrives 3 striped at raid 0 if that means anything, and 2 x 23inch HD monitors not bad set up for me who just uses it look look at porn on the web just kidding
