Lower car on standard shocks?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Im thinking that its time to lower my car. :)

My question is:

What is the recommended max drop on the standard shocks?

(im looking at the Eibach sportline kit which is -30mm all around)

Or

Is it worth getting new shocks and springs?

Sorry if this has been asked before! :surrender:

Thanks,

search button my friend.

I would say don't go too low, makes the car impractical around speed bumps

Also restricts the opportunity to enjoy the runs we do out Wales and Scotland - Martinmac will confirm  . Even on the standard ride height I have caught the OEM front lip on some of the more extreme cambers - OK so that was the hairpins on Honiston in the Lakes and the likes, but it is something to think about.

I have the Eibach pro kit on my car. Standard shocks and the car is kitted. I've done the Wales run and the Hoon. No problems. Speed bumps are a bit more of a problem though!

At least if you get coilovers you can adjust the dampers to compensate ie harder or softer... Been so long since I had stock suspension I cant remember if you can adjust the stock ones?

What wheels have you got?

:) Hi Pimms,

Yes, I saw your Z lowered on Eibachs and it does look cool!, have you had the fast road geometry for your cambers done yet?

My CTR was on Pro-kit and had the fast road set-up done , and it was ace, like s LIMPIT on the road..

I am worried that a Z on springs would catch some speed bumps, or really deep cambers on drives etc??

Are replacement springs something that could be fitted DIY or does it ideally require a garage? Presume an alignment should be on the list of to do's post install?
