Hi - New to the 350Z forum and I'm trying to decide if the premium for the GT pack is worth the money - Can anyone tell me what it contains?

Also are the imports easy to spot - advice on the site seems to be to avoid them.

If there are any other options that are good value in a used car what should I look for?

Thanks in advance

I'm sure someone will tell me if i'm wrong but most Japanese imports (any make of car) tend to have the square shaped space for the rear number plate, whereas UK cars have the oblong shape for it to fit into.

I think there are other tell-tale signs too, can't think off-hand.

Welcome to the forum too

All the answers to your questions are in the FAQ I beleive.

GT Pack is largely the heated leather seats, cruise control, Bose (which is a piece of junk) and maybe wheels (dont know if there are better wheels nowadays). Most agree that its not really worth the money, but as people have found, they are hard to sell without the GT pack.

Imports are fine as long as you get a good imported. Search JM Imports on here, they have a good rep.

:welcome: easiest way to spot an import (as long as it hasnt been messed with) is no headlight washers and square rear number plate

gt packs are easier to re-sell, should of come with some performance advantage imo

Many thanks for the welcome and all the information

This may not be the daftest question ever asked but it must be close:

Has anyone tried to get a roll of material into the boot?

Just to explain my wife runs her own business and will use the car during the week as her run around...........

I've had offcut of carpet in mine....

Landscaping fabric.....

Loads of other stuff too. Actually a fair amount of room in the car as long as the items are the correct shape!

You can fit 2 golf bags in the boot, one in front and one behind the strut bar. As long as the roll of material is shorter than a golf bag, you'll be fine

I've had two full sets of clubs in normal size bags and two small bags with golf shoes etc in and there was plenty room!

As I say, they are deceptive....

Ok, on the odd occassion I've had a bolt or roll of fabric in the Z, so if you flatten the passengers seat as much as possible, carefully jiggle the roll into the footwell and angle it right you'll get a 115cm (a shade under 4ft or 45inch roll), in just fine.

Jim,

As the other guys have said, the search facility on the forum is pretty good.

Cosmetic differences are the square number plate and additional fog light hanging down at the back, as they are not required in japan but are a must for the car to pass the uk SVA test.

There is also a restriction in speed due to the conversion from kilometers to miles which works out at max speed of 117MPH. I got mine de restricted which meant installing a small box which re calibrated the speed control unit. It cost £120 a couple of years ago.

Just to let you know that I imported a Z through powervehicles.com in edinburgh and all i did was give them a colour, spec and max amount of cash I was prepared to pay. They then sent me pictures and check sheets with the condition of different cars and if I was happy with one, then they would bid for it. If they got it then great, if they didn't then the process just kept going till they got one. I still don't know what they paid for my car, but I know that I am happy with the car they got me for the money I paid.

It is a version S which means it has 18" alloys, brembo brakes, jap sat nav but no leather or cruise control.

as for servicing, they come with no service history as they usually have less than 10k miles on the clock. Any decent performance car specialist should be able to do it for you though. I service my own as I'm nnot prepared to pay an arm and a leg for a little nissan badge in my service history!!!!!

Hope this helps.

Hi All

Thanks for all the posts. As you have said there is (just) space for the fabric we are good to go. Now all I need is a nice one to come up in the South .......

Best regards

Jim
