First one ever seen, amazing  apparently everything Einstein theorised has played out as expected which is incredible in itself. Obviously scientists will scrutinise it over the coming months but looks like they have it, fantastic. Of course will have to put up with the conspiracy theorists to rock up and say its fake news or whatever...

Ha yeah forgot that, its flat because I can see the horizon is flat when standing on the beach, completely irrefutable evidence.

My worldly fact of the day . . .

 

The deepest hole ever dug in the earth is 12 miles deep . . .  if you shrank the world to the size of an apple, that 12 miles would represent not even getting half way through the apple skin

Ah but if you expanded the Earth to the size of the universe, that 12 mile hole would be the distance from Earth to Jupiter.

But if the universe is infinite then you expand the earth to the size of the universe then the hole would also be infinite, wouldn’t it?

Maybe, or it maybe just half the thickness of the “skin” of the universe in comparative terms.

I can’t process infinity. Can we work on the assumption the universe is flat?

Well we could, but flat earthers say that everything else in the universe is round because they can observe that, except of course the earth, which is flat, because that makes sense

Interesting that they call it a hole,suggesting it may lead somewhere else.Given that it's thought they are created buy a massive collapsing star the hole theory seems a bit strange.Why cant it be a super compressed amount of matter not necessarily leading to anywhere ?
