Oldie newbie

Hello all,

I signed up today but have had my Roadster from new since March 2005. It came out of warranty last weekend so I thought it was time to look into performing a few mods - hence signing up here. :)

I've owned a series of japanese cars - FTO GPX for 5 years, Impreza P1 for 18 months, 350z for 3 years. I modded the FTO quite a bit - but I like to think in quite a tasteful manner. The P1 was good enough as it was, and the 350 I bought from new so have been happy not to touch it until now.

My 350 has only done 25k miles and the resale values are making me feel quite ill(!) so I've decided to keep the car for another year or so. I have a new GTR on order so I'm hoping my zed will keep me going until that arrives in 18 months+.

The car's been great. The only gripe being the CD player which has skipped badly since it was around 6 months old. My dealer seems to be powerless at getting a replacement so I've escalated to Nissan UK - I hope they'll get it sorted as I've read it's quite a common issue.

Anyway, enough rambling.

Cheers,

Bobsta

Edit to add some pics of previous cars...

My first jap car... 1994 Mitsibuishi FTO GPX

Just after I bought it:

Then after I'd converted it to manual gearbox, fitted a facelift front bumper, lowered with R-Type springs, added a front strut brace, Momo steering wheel, ITG induction filter, mongoose zorst, 17" alloys, etc, etc, etc.

Was very sorry to sell this car - for a pittance. :(

The P1 ... well, I'm ashamed to say that I was responsible for the death of a rare beast...

I stuffed it (quite gently) into an armco barrier and twisted the chassis. No injuries or third parties involed, thankfully. Totally my fault (although not helped by rain and diesel on the road) and I did consider ditching the whole "fast car thing" after the incident.

Fortunately I had a change of heart and pre-ordered my 350z Roadster in November 2004. Unfortunately I lost my pics/videso taken of it due to being sloppy with copying/moving/deleting files recently.

Hi Bobsta and :welcome: Skipping CD players are a common fault. Mine has done it from new - I just let the car warm up before using it and it's not a problem then. Having a new GTR on order is certainly something to look forward to. One or two of the members on here also have put deposits down.

LOL... thanks guys. I'll get some pics - but as my car's currently a standard GT-Pack Roadster in blue, it won't be anything you've not all seen before.

Maybe I could get the missus to sprawl across it or something to make life a bit more interesting?

Yeah, early days on the GT-R. At the moment it's only a deposit slip and a copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on the PS3 to play with!... It'll be an agonising wait (although happy to put off paying for the darned thing - that's gonna be H A R D!).

Bobsta.

:welcome:

I've seen you over on gtroc ;)

Thanks Sarnie. Small world eh?! :)

BTW, I'm looking to go on a 350z-specific driving day / car handling course. A track day isn't really what I'm after... I'm looking for something with coned courses and large run-offs, possibly even a skid pan. Just something to practice drifting a little, and understand how to control a tank-slapper, and understand the limits of the car. I've always felt I've not been able to get the best out of the zed due to not having done this.

I've had a browse around the site and I can't find anything - any pointers?

Thanks!
