Just replaced my 15 year old home cinema subwoofer due to an annoying rattle.

The REL Q200e had served me well with its 10 inch cone and 200w amp, but thinking I'd probably overdriven it I upgraded to a BK Monolith Plus with a 12 inch driver and 500w amp.

At 47kg it totally dwarfs the REL

Monolith Vs REL q200e

The first film I watched was Antman and The Wasp.

Film was okay but the bass was a bit meh :(

i was tempted to ignore the Audessey settings and up the gain on the sub.

Thankfully I didn't as when I played "Live,Die, Repeat/ Edge of Tomorrow" the bass in the opening sequence even before any action hit blew my socks off!

Then I fired up Tron Legacy.

When Flynn Jr enters the Grid and gets caught..... again.....bass heaven.

What are your favourite subwoofery moments?

Intro to Iron Man 2, up until he starts speaking on stage. AC/DC ftw.

Also Independence Day for the rumbling of the craft when approaching LA, because a well setup system is about subtlety as well as power.

I don't have HEAT but remember the scene well from when I saw it in the cinema

I'll have to revisit my Ironman 2 Blu-ray and my Independence Day dvd...... cheers for the reminders.

Those Mission Elan floorstanders look like they have a great surface area of drivers to shift serious air.

"No replacement for displacement" as they say in the automotive world :thumbs:

Always loved the big fight scene in the Matrix. Always a classic.

Ahhhh......the mandatory lobby scene.

I ran that 2 days ago :teeth:

Great minds think alike
