Which engine is this??

Hi guys.

So been looking through the trader for a Z but im a bit confused about when the engine upgrades were made and which would best suite my purposes. 

 

So I heard that the 2006 had the DE but the rev up version along with led rear lights etc. Could someone confirm is this is a rev-up or base model, and is this the one that suffered from consumption?

I was also looking at this 2008 which i understood was HE but this says 296bhp which would indicate rev-up?

Which would be the better bet for reliability? The car will be kept in Spain for 6 months a year so i really just want something that will be as reliable as possible..

Both cars are DE pre facelift so neither are DE revup or HR

hmm now im confused.. the second one is a 2008.. Just noticed its not a facelift but is rated at 296bhp.. Would that not indicate rev-up? Would the 06 with the standard DE be in scope for consumption issues or is it just rev-up models?

Was the HE and rev-up an option then? I presumed they were all uprated according to the year but if that 2008 has a stock DE then it cant be?? Sorry for these noob questions i have just read alot of info that doesnt seem to correspond to what im seeing.

There were numerous pre rev 276bhp unsold models right through to 2010 iirc.

 

There was no such thing as a a HE model - the version introduced in 2007 was HR, as Shezza states.

 

Be wary of exactly what model is being sold - those of us who have been around on here since 2005 have lost count of the number of incorrectly labelled 350s.

You're right, there's something wrong there. A '58 should be a rev-up unless the convertibles are different? Or the personal plate is hiding it's age?

A cars numberplate isn’t based on when it was built, it’s when it was registered. The latter appears to be a very late registered vehicle and the former is quite common being an 06 registered pre facelift.

HR has a bulge on the bonnet and also if you look at the interior shots, the hazard button is just in front of the gear knob. That's a quick simple way to tell from pics.

 

Watch out for cars who've put the bulge bonnet on their car. Hence why J said look for both things.

 

If there is a picture of the engine, then you can see that the HR has two air intakes, whilst the others ( DE & DE RevUp)  have only one.
