New 350z owner . Any advice?

Recommended Posts

Hi after many weeks reading through all the boards I've finally signed up to get in with the action . Just the introduce myself I'm 22 and from Huddersfield and this Saturday I've finally decided (after many weeks of thinking) that I'm going to get my first zed . It seems a cracking car on paper with only 63000 miles on clock 55 plate with a nice interior wrap where I believe the paintwork is a bit dodgy and peels off . So I was wondering is there any tell tail signs I need to look out for regarding reliability . Like I've said I've read a fair few boards and they all seem to come up with similar such as gearbox clunky, knocking noise when steering etc . So if anyone can tell me any more I'd be delighted . Look forward to talking about this exiting car with you .

Welcome aboard. :welcome:

Another buyers guide here: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/77426-buyers-guide/

350Z service schedule: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/31110-service-schedule-for-a-350z/

The service schedule above is a good guide to have/take with you when buying a used 350Z as it will tell you what the service schedule is so you'll have an idea of what should have been done to the Zed depending on the age/mileage. For example: brake fluid every 2 years (or 27K miles) whichever comes soonest.

Regarding the wrap I'd be cautious that it isn't hiding something underneath like rust or other paint issues. All you can really do though with regards to that is ask the owner when it was wrapped, why it was wrapped and inspect the wrap for any suspicious bumps under the surface. Particularly pay attention to the arches, more often the rear arches .

Hope that helps some and good luck with your Zed hunt.

Hi thanks for the links and advice . Regarding the wrap it is only an interior wrap where the head console is . I believe you get a lot of marks and scratches on there?

Arhhh I see. It was almost 3am so that's the excuse I'm sticking too.

Yes that plastic can get scratched up as well as the door switch panels. In fact mine were so bad when I had my Zed that I had them professionally hydro dipped to make sure the problem was solved once & for all. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/86048-hydro-dipped-interior-parts-door-pulls-grab-handle/

Well if you do fancy getting it done to any of your car parts check out Eve@Aquagraphix or Ricey@revolveautomotive for prices and options as both are professional traders on here who can do hydro dipping AKA water transfer printing. ;)

Link to Eve: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/227-aquagraphix/

Also you can literally have any pattern you like with hydro dipping; carbon fibre, flames, skulls, sticker bomb and thousands more. B)

Just had a look at riceys website and it's amazing what he does . May have to speak to him and spend a fair bit of money getting my zed sparkling and perfect ðŸ‘🤔

No advice except fix it how you like it, don't try to fight the inevitable onset of Zeditis. As a previous Honda enthusiast and more recently a fast BMW owner, I have found Zed ownership refreshing from the perspective that parts are cheap, easily sourced new and used, and usually easy to fit. The down side is that more power is tremendously expensive, but it's a great car stock anyway. Welcome!

Well I've seen one on auto trader for 6000 55 plate with 63000 mile on clock . It's the standard zed with no sat nav leather seats etc . Just trying to see if it's cheap or that's a decent fair price for a car like that . Anyone got any ideas?

That'll be this one then...

Looks like it had a front lip at one point

Yea 😂 Good research ðŸ‘😜 I think it did have he sent me some more photos of it more of that bumper close up and there seems to be no marks on it . I also hate that blue interior wrap so looking at a carbon fire wrap on there .
