greasyphil Posted December 15, 2016 Share Posted December 15, 2016 i have 19" rims with 35 profile tyres, i would like a bit more rubber between me and the road looks like i could fit 40 profile will it cause a problem with the traction control? with tyre wear and going round corners etc the ecu wont notice? KyleR Posted December 16, 2016 Share Posted December 16, 2016 Your current F/R difference is 3%, if you upped it to 40 profile tyres on the rear it would be 7%, which is quite a jump. However, to the TCS it would appear the rear is rotating slower due to the larger rolling radius, so I am unsure how the TCS would react to that. BobbyZ Posted January 11, 2017 Share Posted January 11, 2017 The height of the sidewall profile * tyre width profile is given as a percentage, so 235/40 means the sidewall will be 235 * 0.4). You'll need to calculate the difference that you're going to create from standard, and find out what the tolerance of the TCS is to determine if you'll cause issues.
