OliverB Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 So I had a bottle of engine oil in the footwell for a quick journey. Turns out it leaked. Took out the mat and gave it a good rinse with soapy water, proper effort required to get the worst out. Question is, how to get it out of the foot-well carpet, as some seeped through. Thoughts? Richf Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 fairly liquid and water , brush to a foam and use a wet vac to extract the water , you wll probably need to do it a few times Quote
MarkSt Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I've got a wet vac Oli.. Would you like me to bring it tomorrow? lol Quote
Quinster Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Top tip- use Lemon fairy liquid. It works better. Seriously. Quote
OliverB Posted October 17, 2016 Author Posted October 17, 2016 Funnily enough that's exactly what I used on the mat! It comes out but in thick blobs, completely lubes up the hands so can't touch anything after! Annoyingly it has left a lighter patch at the front end of the mat, hopefully that'll come out when I have another go at it tonight/tomorrow. Cheers for the help gents. Quote
ShortPaul Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Hi mate I have a passenger side mat, if it's faded Quote
OliverB Posted October 17, 2016 Author Posted October 17, 2016 Cheers Paul, I'm hoping I can salvage the one I have as it has red trim and all that to match the car. If not I'll give you a shout! Quote
HEADPHONES Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Goto 6 mins and watch the engine oil lift clean off! Quote
OliverB Posted October 18, 2016 Author Posted October 18, 2016 I can't seem to get hold of them in the UK unfortunately. Quote
Ricey Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 APC agitate Wet vac Add infinitum You could also try pouring sawdust or those oil absorbant beads on the mat overnight to soak up the worst of it. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk 1 Quote
