The VQ35DE is built in Iwaki and Decherd, TN. It was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list from 2002 through to 2007 and again in 2016.

Iwaki is in the Fukishima prefecture and parts were severely affected by the tsunami

If Ward's put the DE on their best engine list for this year, that just shows what a crappy and useless list that must actually be

I know the original engine design won awards back in the early 90s, but we have moved on with engine design, and if a 3.5 lt V6 that can only make 280-340 bhp with abysmal fuel economy can win an award these days, i think Wardsauto need to get some decent review staff.

Its not exactly the same engine as a zed, it has been updated for the 2016 application.

Over-all the VQ35DE is actually a pretty good and reliable engine. Some say underpowered but with power comes unreliability.
