Is something wrong with my brand new Invidia Gemini???

Hi guys I could use a bit of advice if you don't mind.

Recently bought a brand new invidia Gemini from tarmac and had it fitted by a trusted local garage. Sounded amazing, a deep roar especially at lower revs, then sounded great when I opened it up a bit more too.

The past couple of days I have noticed that this amazing deep tone has faded away. The exhaust seems all round quieter, and much less throaty and deep. It may be starting to bed in but I was advised by really everyone that once it begins to bed in it will sound better and even get a little deeper, not the opposite? It now doesn't even sound- dare I say it- that much different to stock😭. And it certainly did when the thing went on.

Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed on this

Aghhh! Very confusing.

Everything that I'd read online and watched online about how its meant to sound seems consistent with how it sounded when it was first fitted!

And haha also realised that I will become used to it- but others have noticed the difference too. The sound has changed in the complete opposite way that everyone said it should when it cokes up

the tone will change as it cokes up inside. when my cobra was brand new, it was quite loud, and a harsh, metallic noise. once it had a couple thousand miles on it it sounded a lot more mellow, which I preferred.

Thanks for the reply. I was certain that the way it sounded when I first had it fitted was "right". Now it just doesn't

Stainless systems always mellow after a bit of use

I did expect a sound change but it seems to have lost its tone, and as I said I was told to expect a deeper tone, not a miraculous change back to stock noise. Meh

They all calm down a little after they get coked up, plus you do get used to them pretty quick.

I've got HFCs and they do make a difference to the sound if your wanting more, so do decats

Thanks! That may be the answer now haha. I'll be in touch :D

Agreed, my N1 needed an ASBO when it was first fitted!! Its still loud now mind, but it has softened a bit.

Hahaha how much use before it softened? Mine has changed quite dramatically in just a week, and I don't do mega miles either

Mine got louder as it bedded in for sure. But you do get used to the sound increase very quickly.

You see this is why I was worried. Definitely quieter than when it was fitted, and lost the deep roar! Tempted to get it looked over just for piece of mind

Sure you're not just going deaf Ryan? :scare::lol:

Had Berks HFC's with my Invidia system on my Zed and later the Berks De-Cats, ...both brought out the beast from the Zed.

Hahaha I think my hearing is actually still okay  I think those are options I'm now gonna need to consider!

Definitely worth considering.

Worth noting though that the downside with both those options though is that unlike the standard Cats you will fail the MOT emissions test for definite with De-Cats and it's touch & go that you will pass with the HFC's.

My old Zed passed the MOT emissions test no problem with the Berks HFC's I had fitted but I know other members with an identical exhaust setup have failed in the past.

You can get around this one of two ways ~ either you are friendly with the MOT guy ;) ;) or you put the OEM Cats back on for your MOT each year which some people do but I'd personally find that a PITA,

.....or you're one of the lucky ones like me who had HFC's & still passed the MOT emissions test. :D

Cheers Ryan. ;)

It was a great car but sadly I had to let it go around a year ago as I was buying my first house with my fiancee. Needed something slightly more sensible for the Ikea runs & move in day.

Take a look at my build thread here though if you want some inspiration or just to see what else I did to it: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/91628-gmballistics-zed-supercharged-2003-gun-metal-gt-coupe-vids-added/
