Honda RDX aerial fitment - HELP needed - got that & solved!!!

I received my Honda RDX aerial in the post, went out to fit it and have run into an issue.

I'm not the most mechanical of chaps but I figured even I should be able to unscrew the old mast and screw on a new one but here I am!

As you can see from the photos the aerial base has a male connection and the old mast a female connection to accept it. Yet my new Honda aerial has a male connector so cannot attach to the base.

I assume I have been sent the wrong part? Or am I doing something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.post-27021-0-44329600-1444080606_thumb.jpgpost-27021-0-48324600-1444080556_thumb.jpgpost-27021-0-97365600-1444080641_thumb.jpgpost-27021-0-93489200-1444080645_thumb.jpg

Get a plier, cover the threaded bit on the base with a rug or cloth, unscrew the threaded bit. The rug/cloth should protect the threaded bit if it wasn't removable (but doubt it won't come out) :thumbs:

Edit: Looking at the pics again, your old antenna looks shorter than OEM, and I suspect it's an aftermarket antenna. I'm pretty sure it's an adapter thread which you should be able to remove with plier + rug/cloth

Thanks for all the replies. Yesterday's monsoon prevented me from trying last night, however I am very glad to report that the pliers method has just done the trick.

I did think about trying to take the thread out at first but didn't want to go ahead for fear of damaging the base.

First mod done;

Edited title for you ;)

Good pics & feedback BTW :thumbs:

Thank you sir.

The responses posted were awesome. I have been on other car forums were if I had asked a similar question all I would have received in reply would have been comments such as stupid noob and the like.
