  1. I scare myself sometimes
  2. Sounds perfectly normal to me. The TC will let you spin both wheels in the wet in a straight line, but if it detects one wheel spinning faster than the other then it'll kick in and kill the fun/stop you ending up in a ditch. It's stability control rather than traction control, so it's trying to keep the car stable as opposed to stopping the wheels spinning. If you don't lift off enough to give the car a chance to settle the weight is still over the front wheels giving you less grip at the back, so you need to come off it altogether and let the natural stability give you the balance back. Mine annoys the hell out of me when pulling out of junctions in the damp so I leave it firmly off unless it's dreadful weather., and even then there's not that much difference as I experienced at Anglesey a couple of months ago in monsoon conditions: I wasn't any slower on track with the electronics turned off. That said, I'd agree with everyone else here about checking the profile and width of your tyres compared with stock, and it won't hurt to reset the stability control either (there's a guide on here somewhere, check the FAQs).
  3. Having pretty much decided that I don't want to touch the stock suspension on my car at all as it gives me the perfect combination of comfort, compliance and feel, my next step is to add as much bracing to the car as possible. Given that the roadster has that massive cross-brace under the car that stops many bracing parts that fit the coupe being installed, is there a definitive list anywhere of stuff that will fit? Or a list of parts that won't? Any info would be gratefully received. Ta!
  4. It's got big teeth and scaly skin, and is best mates with a croc. HTH
  5. Very sad to hear this, but it can't have been an easy decision to make so I can only wish everyone at ESR all the very best for the future.
  6. Bose skipping is another common issue, have a good read through all the FAQs here. I too came from a 2.0L turbo car and there is a big difference between the best way to use the engines, so I would imagine that's probably where you're finding issues. Only way to solve is to drive the car some more, so that's no hardship there
  7. When cold, yes. There's loads of posts on this forum about it, and it's perfectly normal. Given that the ratios of the 'box are very similar to just about every other performance car out there (1st gear 30mph, 2nd 60mph, 3rd 90mph etc give or take a few mph here or there), you shouldn't be finding yourself in a different gear at all, or certainly not that you'd notice. If you came from something like a small four-pot then it may just be the different feel that a larger capacity engine gives you, but that would be all.
  8. The Zed 'box can be a bit stiff when cold, does it happen to you all the time or just after you first start a journey? As for what gear you should be in, I'm not sure anyone can help you with that as that's what you learn on your driving lessons. You choose the gear appropriate for the conditions, to always stay in one regardless would be incredibly stupid.
  9. Track day as in you drive your car, or day on track driving something else?
  10. The real scary thing is that people actually buy them, not realising it'll cost them performance rather than give them any.
  11. Many thanks to all who run this site for sorting that out, top work along with continued great news about Phil.
  12. I'll be the only person that giggled like a schoolgirl when the car flipped and rolled into the legs of the kids on the wall, then. So over the top, just like the advert from over here against drink driving when the girl smashes her head into the table. I know I'm going to hell for laughing at these, but that's the only emotion they raise from me. If you drive like a tit then of course things could go horribly wrong, but all these adverts are just so excessive they come across as almost slapstick on occasion.

  14. Tbh I'm a little disappointed that EVO actually gave it a full review on the basis of 3x 10min drives on a manufacturers proving ground, regardless of how close to German roads it may be. It's certainly something they never would have done a year or so ago, and is yet another black mark against the name of a magazine that used to be the monthly driving bible.
  15. Nice one Mike, that's just what I'm after! *bids*
  16. You're actually better off with no plate stuck on at all and using the excuse of "It must've fallen off officer", as the penalties are much less severe. Tbh, if you know you've got an illegal plate then you can hardly complain when you get pulled up on it. I've always viewed number plates as something extraordinarily ugly that blight the front and rear of every car, but since everyone has to have them there's no point in complaining or trying to get round it.
  17. Thing is, JAE at Mersea this year was absolutely brilliant, with a proper decent atmosphere back again. Yes, there were huge **** ups with the organising of the whole thing still (the least of which was that they'd been working to the wrong scale when dishing out space for each stand!) but the fact that everyone was so much closer together made for a brilliant weekend. In all honesty it'd probably be better if John and Claire stood down really and let others have a crack at it, but then I doubt we'd end up with a JAE at all.
  18. Brilliant news
  19. It's a bargain until you put your car in the ditch, especially in this weather.
  20. Nice one, let us know who the specialist is as well as it might well be handy when the warranty ends. Will you get it back in time for Xmas?
  21. Terrible news Andrew, my thoughts are with you, Phil and your family at this time.
  22. You'd install it in the main pipe after the y-pipe in the case of our vehicles. It's going to throw the lengths out a bit, but only by the thickness of the flange so should be perfectly fine.
  23. Let me guess, it's got one big single turbo like the last FQ-400? LAAAAAAAGGGG city. It does look the part though, and yet at that price you'd have to be mad to want one.
  24. You'll have to prise my dead cold fingers from the steering wheel before that ever happens Thanks for all the messages guys, much appreciated
