  1. I am never going back there. Felt like an idiot from the moment I walked in to the dealership. Couldn't wait to leave! I live near Ascot so Aldershot is not too far. I will keep an eye on their stock list. Thanks
  2. Well I have to say, this afternoon was one of the most disappointing experiences I have ever had with a car dealer. Firstly, they lost our appointment details, they weren't expecting us and told us that we can look at the car but we can't drive it. I explained how that wasn't really a solution to the problem and after a bit of awkwardness, they figured out a way to make it happen. As described in an earlier post, we are currently looking to buy a car for my wife so it was her who I asked the sales guy to go out with, explaining that if she liked it, I would drive it before we made a decision. So off she went... She started it up with me stood at the back and as you can imagine, I was greeted with the disappointing sound of near silence from the exhausts. Anyway, I was expecting that so that wasn't too bad. When my wife returned from the test drive and I asked her about the car, she said "I have no idea what it's like, I was in traffic the whole time and he wouldn't let me take it anywhere to drive it properly (my wife is a petrolhead, not a sissy driver). She explained to the salesman on the way round that she wanted to take it through the revs and test the handling a bit and his reponse was "Nissan's insurance doesn't cover extreme driving" (FFS!). So I decided not to waste anymore time and we came away empty handed and thoroughly disappointed with the dealership. We will continue to look for one before deciding if it's the car for us or not. In the flesh, the red does look good but it's not a colour we will choose purely because of the weird mismatch of the Nismo accents. White, Black or Silver are all on cards í ½í±í ¼í¿»
  3. Got a test drive booked today in the used red one that Bishop's in Guildford have in stock. I've got to be honest, the jury is out on the colour but I'll reserve judgement until I see it in the flesh. I don't mind red so much but from the pics, it looks like the trim red on the bumpers and side skirts look like a different colour??? Anyway, I will post back my opinions later. Thanks for sharing the info and advice, it's been very useful.
  4. Thanks for the quick responses This one is for the missus so I just need to get her bought in to it... could be my only stumbling block.
  5. Hello again! I'm tempted with the purchase of a 370Z Nismo. I'm also really lazy so please can someone tell me what I should be looking out for without me needing to use the search button? :-) What are the differences between the 2013-14 models and the 2016-ish years? I can see a few cosmetic differences but what else changed? I appreciate any advice and this being 350z-uk.com, I anticipate some abuse too. Thanks AndySpak PS - Will I need to buy some spacers and a stubby?
  6. Its been a long time since I posted here but I felt compelled to log on when I saw all the messages about Martin on Facebook. I enjoyed three years of active membership here between 2007 and 2010 and over that time I had lots of public and private chats with Martin. It was the early days of Facebook but I am still connected in with approximately 10 people that I only know from the club, Martin was one of them. I remember him as someone who was universally liked and the one person that would never judge another member, even when some of us were being intentionally obnoxious! (usually Sarnie or me). He became a member after me but very quickly became the glue that brought the club together in a way that helped turn it in to the club it is today. As an old member, it's really pleasing to see such a vibrant group here that's just as active now as it was when the 350z was still in production - I know that Martin (among others) has had a big role to play in that. I didn't know him very well, I only met him a couple of times at Zed meets, but in this modern age we build good digital bonds with people and I am truly saddened to hear of his passing. RIP Martin
  7. When I had my Zed, I always got it serviced at the Chorley Nissan's Wigan branch. From memory a P1 was about £89 and a P3 was £180. It was the cheapest main dealer service pricing I could find within 30 miles of Warrington. I always got a free courtesy car too. I would recommend them.
  8. White is OK but Bayside is THE colour to get an R34 in. Remember, White has had its day now too, its very 2008.
  9. Yup. 99.99999999999999999999% certain it will be a R34 GTR but there's a few other options I'm looking into Nice choice They are looking like a good second hand buy nowadays. Prices seem to be holding up well around the £20K mark for a reasonable unmodified example. Don't think you will lose too much on one of those if you are careful with it. I hope you are going to get it in Bayside Blue?
  10. Sorry if I've missed this announcement but I assume you are selling your Zed Ian? What are you planning on getting next (or have you got it already)?
  11. Ah sorry, I did scan down the subject headings of the recent posts but didn't see anything related and I'm far too lazy to use the search button
  12. Is this anyone on here? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11852488

    Oops......

Nixy - you could have at least post a link to the vid
  14. The Elise pics look a lot like a sporty version of the CRZ. In fact the Elise is the only version of this new car (its one new car with a few options...) that I don't particularly like. I think the Elan is my preferred look.
  15. They look great but they all look the same
  16. I just traded in a 54-plate UK GT Zed (albeit with 83K on the clock) for £7K. If yours has not been categorised as an insurance write off, I wouldn't even worry about the accident and it should be worth around £8K if its in good condition. If it has been an Insurance Write off (Cat-D or Cat-C) then you will be lucky to get more than £7K IMO, there are lots of very good cars about at the £8K price range that do not have an accident history.
  17. And if you're like me, your activity on the site might go through a renaissance period after you sell it!
  18. Hi Andy, A small trek for you but "Chorley's Nissan" Main Dealer in Wigan were the cheapest I found in the North-West. A P1 was about £89 and a P3 was around £180. They will provide you with a free courtesy car if you ask. HTH Andrew
  19. I was surprised at how much quicker the Cayman S was than my Zed. I know on paper they are a bit faster but driving them they feel quite a lot quicker. The Zeds have always gone faster than they feel like they are going though haven't they...
  20. Hi Gort, That was my car for the last 3 years. It was well used but well loved too. Most of the miles were motorway miles so despite having over 80K on the clock, a lot of them were added with the engine just ticking over at around 2,500rpm. Its a 54-plate car and I am having S9AKK transferred to my new car... just waiting for the paperwork to return. Anyway, if you read the right up on the link geoff-r added you'll see how much I rated the car. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Andrew
  21. Sorry, I meant to add that bit. After almost buying another Zed (because I couldn't find any cars I liked more than it) I test drove this and immediately parted with silly amounts of cash:
  22. Hello everyone, I know I've not been very active on here recently but I do come in and lurk every now and then. However after 3 whole years of Zed ownership, it finally came to an end this month when I traded it in. I have been delighted by the whole Zed ownership experience and I wanted to pass on my thoughts about this wonderful car. I bought a 2004 (54-plate) GT when it was exactly 3 years old in September 2007. It had 30,000 miles on the clock then and when I traded it in a few weeks ago, it had 84,000. With the exception of some dodgy welding where my back box joins the centre-pipe, the car hasn't missed a beat and I had a smile on my face for every one of the 54,000 miles that I drove in it. (Bizarrely, the problem I had with the exhaust back in December 2007 was the reason I found out about this forum. M13KYF spotted a question I posed on the official forum asking for advice and when I met him to buy his old back box he invited me to join the site). In addition to the exhaust back box, I had 5 services in the time I had the car, I bought 4 discs, 6 sets of pads (front ones twice), and 4 new tyres. They were the only expenses I had other than fuel, probably no more than £2000 in total - which is far less than I budgeted for. I would thoroughly recommend the Zed to anyone thinking of buying one. If you are new to this site, or even just a lurker gathering information before making a purchase, you should definitely take note of some of the excellent advice that can be had from this community. I only attended one meet, Wales'09, but it was fantastic and if I'd had the chance, I would definitely have liked to attend more (If my relatives would stop christening children on Zed meet dates Beavis!). Some of my favourite Zed memories came from that day in Wales last May. Driving through Betws-y-Coed watching pedestrians count the cars, taking pictures of the cars parked outside the pub, all in line and of course the fabulous roads The only reason I have changed is because I like change... This however was a difficult thing to do. I test drove a number of cars recently and I have to say, I rejected some vehicles that I always considered would be quite a good next car purely because after test driving them, I got back in my Zed and it felt miles better (Audi S4 especially!). If anyone is looking at high miler cars, I would say that if its got a good service history, you will probably get yourself a cracking motor. I am confident mine will give its new owner many more miles of smiles. I'm not saying goodbye, but here are a few of my fave Zed pics: My Car The Zed Park in Wales The Zed Road And no matter what anyone says, Azure is DEFINITELY the fastest colour
  23. Make sure you turn off the ESP when you test drive it then. you should find it easy to control in a slide if you are use to driving a 911 on a track
  24. 500 miles a week... Pffft! Thats an easy week for my Zed.
