  1. Here is the standard ES bulb or for the Uk of course you have the BC fitting but all sorts can be found! If you want more informaion or need to join in an enthusiastic light bulb forum here is the link! http://www.bulbcollector.com/forum/
  2. Strangely enough I love it!
  3. Some more cool cars and pics there Thanks again for taking to time to postup. I remember when those Peugeots 406 coupe's were regarded as the dogs- however depreciated faster than a Betamax video recorder! That Corsa looks seriously chavved up nice one I always liked the Integra Type R - quite rare I fancied an FTO a while back also but they were all in various states of duff panel fit the ones I saw and was put off them! The problem with me is I like or have liked too many cars over the years some not so good! (Almost got a Viva once!) Re: Metro's they were a much maligned car in the public's view but ours was actually pretty good except for the p*** poor engine design layout - I mean lets just put the points behind the front grill where no one can get to them to service without taking the feckin front of the car off! BL Friday night special there! But mpg anf ride was excellent and the exhaust only fell off once!
  4. There is a saxo and mk1 Golf thing going on here isn't there!!! Folks if you don't have pictures doesn't matter just give us a list there was life before Zeds and it's always interesting to see what you all had, esecially as there are many new members that have joined recently
  5. Love the MR2 especially! Did you find any ditches with that one on wet roundabouts or did the bigger wheels save you blimey you like your Saxo's! Do like your Zed looks just right matey thanks for sharing the pics Would like to keep this thread going folks keep them posting
  6. to the forum wow nice machine there! Love the Zed colour but then I am biased! Think the gang here would love to see more pics of both of those? So if your driving upside down all the time do you need the traction control on all or off? When you squirt water on the windscreen does it just fly off over the roof then? These are practical questions that need answering!
  7. The problem with a retrim (even just the side panel) is no 2 pieces of leather are the same so there will always be a slight shade difference. Seriously dont spend a fortune on it - go with the fist option of leather cream - Connolly hide food works miracles (we have a 1958 Wolseley to sort and its brought the seats back to life really well )- of course elbow grease is required but since yours is fairly newish leather it should come back to an acceptable level. You will be amazed how much some rehydration of the leather can bring the colour back. Hide food also helps to move some of the pigment off the good leather and sometimes you can use that to recolour the damaged area. But only a little by circular motions again on a soft cloth. Give it a try you have nothing to lose but £10 for a tub of hide food! (which will last you at least 10 years)
  8. Hi - there is a similar thread here - advice is the same viewtopic.php?f=22&t=31022 Although yours is a bit worse than some I have seen and its amplified by that pale colour? Ideally a close up pic of the damaged area would be good but anyway.. Basically you have 2 options a) Cheap option Expensive option Lets start with cheap option: Stage 1: Buy some leather cleaner and leather cream/conditioner such as Glyptone, Connollys hide food or Autoglym. Follow the instructions on the cleaner and using a dry soft rag clean the whole seat. Dry it off then apply a small amount of the conditioner in circular motions to the whole seat but concentrate more of it in the damaged area- let if soak in gently and wait about 30 mins - repeat another time for the whole seat but repeat about 3-4 just in the damaged area. Follow the instructions but I would recommend you leave it to soak overnight and dot use the car the day after. Use a dry cloth to wipe off any excess and see how the damage looks - it will either look 100% better and blend in with the seat or it will just be a marginal imrpovement of say 20% better either way non of this is wasted effort as these seats need some love and attention! Stage 2: If this still looks pants and you cant regain the colour of the rest of the seat you need to send off to Glytone or Woolies trim supplies for a colour match kit - they match the colour of your good leather and make up a repair kit. Of course this means you need to provide a sample! follow the instructions they will provide all you need. Option B: Expensive option! You pop down to your friendly car (coach) trimmers and they will do a number of things. They will either try the technique I described above or they will replace the side piece - which means a stripdown and they attempting to find a colour match to that leather !(not the easiest colour to match but not impossible) If they are real scumbags they will try to rip you off and tell you they cant match the colour and you need a whole new seat - in that case walk away! Either way you are probably looking at I recon £150-£200 for that work - its the time to strip and replace thats where you pay your money. You can of course do that yourself but no self respecting trimmer will like that! Buy a second hand one off fleabay but you will only come up against the same issues in years to come. If the passenger one is the same may be worth retrimming them both at the same time? Once again please remember there is an airbag in the side so be very careful? Hope this helps let us know how you get on. If you have any other questions please PM happy to help
  9. Very nice add it to my 'Memory Lane' thread We have to keep that up to date
  10. Dont worry Chris no one would expect me to do such a thing in such a tank - its a Bentley remember! Keep up the good work in the Beemer - got yourself stuck in the snow yet? Funny there are Beemers and Jags like beached wales all over the place ! Fools!
  11. I could'nt help myself - first time back in the office this morning - light snow in the works car park no one around and no cars ... ..........had to see what the 300C was like so managed a do-nut or two - not bad for a 2.5 tonne car - was great fun ! it was pitch black and snowing so no pictures unfortunately. I blame Marzman and his drifting videos its all this peer pressure on t'internet
  12. wow yet more good pictures very nice Like I said before Autumn and Winter best time of year for pictures keep them up
  13. Nice one - dont forget to put Waxoyl or similar in the sills but not near any heat exchangers or heater piping unless you like the smell of it! Keep us posted to progress and dont forget to spray or paint the underside of any new panels you weld in - Type 2's rot from the inside remember! Ideally check the filler thats already there - it could be ok but if your going to this mucj trouble its worth doing everytyhing from scratch, although if the roof is ok - then its fine to sand etch primer and spray over the existing paint If I had only kept them today!
  14. Can imagine you two hiking with one of those packs for the baby. Seen that about 4 times here, bit of a scary concept though, if you go for a skate. No way Bronzee Mind you we are counting chicks before they have hatched
  15. Well leather can be treated but really you need to give it plenty of hydration for want of a better word? Get Connolly Hide Food and apply it to the area, leave for 30 mins or so apply some more let it soak in and soften the leather you would be surprised how tough leather is and how much you can heal it! Yes Roo just try something with the dye make sure you check in another area first to check on colour math first
  16. Personally I wouldn't do it. The cig lighter is not really designed for high power continued use Andy which I am guessing something like that will do?
  17. Speaking from experience all Vw campers/panel vans rust badly if your into the Vw scene you will know this so please please please send 90% of your time ensuring there is no rust and ensure you sand the panels down well either with an electric sander. Check the panel gaps and align the panels carefully or it will look like dogs dinner!! If it's a split the bottom 12 inches will need extra rust treatment, if it's a bay the whole feckin thing will need good rust treatment if it's a wedge then the panel gaps are your problem, too close together and rust breeds in there if it's a brick t4 they are pretty bullet proof but the wheel arches can go. To treat the rust use dinitrol or metal ready rust remover ( google these) but for areas you can't get to remove the rust you can only cover or convert it. I can highly recomend bonda rust + zinc I swear by it. Now you have treated the rust cover in etch primer then high build filler primer. Next get your sanding perfect sand in different directions and use a plank of wood with wet and dry sandpaper on the doors or you will end up with a rubbish finish! Next get some top coat - contrary to popular belief you can by cellulose paint still - I use autopaints in merseyside they get you a perfect match. Do not use 2 pack as it's poisonous to you. It's good that you have removed windows etc your doing it the proper way right there are companies that will put your paint in spray cans and it can be done I did my first beetle like that but better to go to Aldi and get their compressor kit complete with guns. It's cost effective and really well made £68. Now spray technique - test with some waste paint on a scrap panel so you get used to mixing the thinners ( non bloom cellulose thinners) follow the mixing instructions with the paint. Build up the layers sanding with finer wet and dry paper and water each time. The top coat is more thin ers than paint to give it that extra shine. Spray the edges of a panel first then work your way up and down in stripes overlapping slightly be fluid with your wrist and trigger finger it's hard to explain on here but trialand error and practice is the key. Let everything dry properly about 2 weeks before polishing out any imperfections with polishing compound like farcela G4 then some Mer to give that extra shine. Be under no illusion a camper is a big vehicle but take your time 1 panel at a time use the natural break points on thebody to mask off starting with the roof first. Sorry I've gone on a bit if you need any info of product info please pm me happy to help.
  18. to the forum matey enjoy the zed but nit in this weather! The 1953 350 z was one of the early models it had fins on the back and lots of chrome on the front. Complete with whitewall tyres and 8 track tape Bose player as standard
  19. Your not joking mate the baby industry you can spend aa much or as little as you like ask Tarmac probably agree!! Well I hear your cakes are of the finest quality sir and your talking to the couple that drove all the way to te hoon just to see the gang and then not do the run how many club members have that kind of dedication to this forum eh? Lakes will be p|$$ easy by comparison
  20. Well yes but in the lakes there are easy and hard routes so should be something for everyone especially when we will have a pram to push by then
  21. Nice one well to put you at ease they all go the same way it's nothing big to worry about it's just Nissans p!$$ poor thin leather! Ok get some boot polish on a rag and dab a little on let it dry for a bit then get some hide food like autoglym or connollys or glyptone that will soften and preserve the leather. Don't waste anymore time on it mate.
  22. Haha, yeah. Except unlike Julia Bradbury, we would'nt make every wee fell sound like it was like climbing Everest! Too right I can't stand her and she needs to seriously eat some pies!!! I keep forgetting lakes are only 1 hours drive for us , must try to get up there this year ? If only we knew someone that lived there so we could pop in for a cuppa? We're about 4hrs away and Amanda still wants to go. Have to arrange a club outing up there sometime with some serious walking too Sounds like a great idea Chris
  23. Most white cars look great with tinted windows I did the tailgate on my White van and it improved the look no end although it was more for privacy than looks.
