  4. There is one under my carbon cover! It was G/M as it was done by someone before.... Needs some serious rubbing down to get a nice flat surface.... Even though it looked ok, you could still see the remains of the original finnish.... Oh and it chips!! There was one just on ebay US, black alcantara with orange stitching... looked schweet.... And no reflection!!! That does sound sweet with the alcantara, but im a diy kinda guy...! I can imagine the center console chipping too... Jay/Paul - got any plans to combat this? Should be DIY'able to do alcantara if you get the right stuff.... stitching may be an issue.... But not for Jay.... He may have a little kit in his handbag... Or he may have a sewing machine!!
  5. Slightly out of the blue so must have a point?
  6. There is one under my carbon cover! It was G/M as it was done by someone before then I painted it gloss black.... Needs some serious rubbing down to get a nice flat surface.... 7. Love my volks, hate brittish weather! Volks can be refurbished though as a few people have had done... Rough cost £240 every 2 years! Any chromed lip will have issues in this country unless you do as Martin said and have the ability to wash the crap off ASAP and wash, clean and wax them as often as possible. Good luck with your search and choice... I dont envy you! Did it once and thats enough for me!
  8. Guess it has now! Its all bout each to their own, Its not like theres not other sites out there that charge for the privilage of membership to keep going.. No website is truly free, **REMOVED** choose to charge, this great site chooses to ask for donations... All websites need to pay an ISP for large volumes of traffic, for the software needed to run them... I guess the only thing thats free is the time given by the people that look after the upgrades and administration.... Am sure there are other costs that I dont know about from an admin level. That coupled with contributions from traders keeps things going on all sites.. With regards to justification, its not just about what you get back, you get back what you put in, just speaking from personal experience, my contribution last year got me to see the 370z before the UK press (and not just see it, but get in it, pull things about, press buttons... all but drive it!) , 2 laps round silverstone, subsidised tickets to Shows, meeting the guy that designed the zed and heard him talk about it (as well as discounts on insurance, trader discounts, etc etc and lots of other incidental things... that members on here get too) But most of all was help and assistance from other owners and the ability to give my help and assistance to those that needed it... And thats not just members on "there" but ones that frequent just this site too... Meeting up, chatting, helping with mods etc etc. That would cost nothing from either site, and for me, thats what its all about... I frequent both, if this site was chargable I would pay.... Too me I dont see why a cost is an issue... We all have to pay sometime for a service.. As someone that came into ownership 16 months ago, I wasnt involved with what went on but I personally feel that it should all be left in the past... Just my opinion and I have voiced this in all areas to members and admins of both sites. There are very few Zeds in the UK (in comparison to other cars models )and by splitting ownership with the options available we are all loosing out on discounts from traders, challenging Nissan with issues, driving down service costs and getting fixed deals from suppliers... this can only be done by shouting with one voice and in an ideal world there would be one place for the owners of the marque we choose to drive... Not to mention having to post the same things on 2 sites! But unfortunatly its not and there are 2 main sites in the UK, some people frequent one only, some frequent both... Always good to have a choice But it would be great if there were ways we could work together to make things happen to all our advantage during Zed ownership. Some people have their favorite football team, some people like football... Peace, Out Mark

  12. Borrowed from another site.... Wales 2010 may not be fun if this happens... "THE government is to cut the national speed limit from 60mph to 50mph on most of Britain's roads, enforced by a new generation of average speed cameras. The reduction , to be imposed as early as next year, will affect two thirds of the country's road network. Drivers will still be able to reach 70mph on motorways and dual carriageways and 60mph on the safest A roads. Jim Fitzpatrick, the roads minister, defended the plan, which will be the most dramatic cut since 1978, when the national speed limit was reduced from 70mph to 60mph. "There will be some in the driving lobby who think this is a further attack and a restriction on people's freedom," he said. "But when you compare that to the fact we are killing 3,000 people a year on our roads, it would be irresponsible not to do something about it. I'm sure that the vast majority of motorists would support the proposals." New research by the Department for Transport has found that reducing the speed limit could save 200-250 lives a year and also reduce carbon emissions. Britain's roads were the safest in the world until 2001, relative to its population, but have since fallen into sixth place behind countries such as the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. Some challenge that statistic because of the disparity of the countries' sizes. The new 50mph limit is intended to reduce the high death toll on rural roads, where, in 2007, 69% of car crash fatalities took place. It will apply to single carriage A, B and C roads. Local authorities will have the power to raise the limit to 60mph on the safest roads, but will have to justify it. Ministers plan to use average speed cameras, which monitor speeds over distances of up to six miles, to help enforce the new limit. The cameras have already been installed at 43 locations. The Home Office is expected to approve their wider use later this year. Speed Check Services, the company behind the cameras, claims the number of deaths or serious injuries at its sites has fallen on average by 60%. Fitzpatrick said: "If you look at the figures on rural roads, there are disproportionately more people dying there than on any other roads. The nature of some rural roads, with dips and bends and difficult conditions, means that the 60mph limit is not enough." The 50mph proposal will be laid out in a consultation document to be published in the early summer. Edmund King, president of the AA, warned that the move could alienate some motorists. Last year the AA asked 17,481 motorists if the limit on single carriageway roads should be cut to 50mph. Nearly half backed the move but 38% opposed it. He said: "There are quitea few single carriageway rural roads that are straight and adequately wide, where 60mph – in the right conditions, driving sensibly — is not a problem. "The danger of the blanket approach is: are you going to then reduce speed limits just for the sake of it where you don't need to? That's where you lose the respect or the support of the motorist. "We all know some rural roads where the 60mph limit is ridiculous, although there are equally others where it suits. So it is a case of getting that balance." http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/drivin ... 864847.ece Petition... http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/noNSLreduction/ SPREAD THE WORD!
