Definatly must have caught the officer in a good mood. I had a marked police car do something similar to me when I was following a 911 on the M1. Me and 911 had both been doing 95+ for a few junctions. It was dark and all i saw was a set of lights steaming up towards me, I remember thinking this guy must be really going for it to catch me up so quickly, and had a split second to choice between either flooring it or pulling in, luckly i choose the latter. Only realised it was marked traffic car when it cruised past and the guys gave me a very stern look. They than booted it off after the 911. They pulled the 911 at the next junction. That was about 3 years ago, these days I perfer to watch my mpg rather than my speedo on M ways

Both the RX 3067 and RXA2010 have 8 HDMI in ports so that should be more than enough for any one. Regarding optical outs, HDMI has basically replaced everything, all HDMI cables/ports support video and sound, you simply plug everything into the amp, and than connect the HDMI out from the amp to the TV, the rest the amp will sort out . Don't know much about Yamaha amps (i have a few Denons), but simply looking at the specs both look good, the RXA2010 seems to offer internet/home networking options. Oh you don't need special HDMI 1.4 cables, and don't get talked into buying some stupidly overpriced cables from the shop, HDMI cables send digital information (1s and 0s) so the quality of the cable had no impact on the image/sound. Good luck .

Where have all the free web hosting sites gone???
gangzoom replied to gangzoom's topic in Off Topic Discussion
All setup and working, thanks for the info -
I remember back in the 2005 there use to be load of free web hosting sites that offered FTP access (geocitiy, tripod etc). I'm the middle of producing some web based stuff for a small project for work, and just wanted to try it out on the real web and am really struggling to find any free hosting sites that allow FTP access Google/MoonFruit and some others offer free "web pages" but you have to produce the content in their bespoke environment and as far as I can tell there is no way to get FTP access to upload your own pages....anyone got any suggestions

Audi drivers, did they all have a meeting...
gangzoom replied to AMT's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I have to say its quite funny been tailgated and than overtaken by a 318M or 320M. Very very occasionally I give into temptation, and test just how quick these 'M' cars are compared to my light modded 335i -

To be fair the BMW indicators/lights stalk is a bit temperamental -
I looked at the Infinity G37 saloon as replacement for my 350Z, but the engine was simply too thirsty compared to what BMW/Audi had on offer . Whats more worrying is the fact Nissan/Infiniti still don't offer a 300bhp engine that can offer anywhere near 30mpg combined (370 is quoted at 26-27mpg), compared that to the M135i that has a combined 35 mpg. Ofcourse you can argue that if your buying a 300bhp+ car your shouldn't care about mpg, but given super unleaded is now nearly £1.40 I think most people would prefer a car that does 35mpg over one that does 27mpg. Personally I don't really care about mpg, but the fact my new car is more "economical" than my 350Z certainly kept my wife happy

SNOWY PITURESQUE SCOTLAND (picture heavy)
gangzoom replied to ZMANALEX's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Great pics...thats proper snow, even the thinnest covering of white stuff on the roads (<0.0001cm) here and mass panic breaks out -
+1 Winter tyres, put some on my BMW this year for the first time, was as to get up hills 4x4s on summer tyres struggled with. Plus it gives you a reason to buy a set of lovely 19inch 'summer' alloys

I doubt any dealer would "wave" £14K but its worth a try . You might be surprised at what they offer you for the 320 against a M3/335i. I got £2K above book price when I PX my 350Z for a 335 simply because the dealer wanted to get rid of the 335 due to a lack of interest. Your 320 would be much easier to shift compared to a M3/335 so they might give you a good deal if the dealers has a M3/335 sitting idle in the showroom.....let us know how you get on
-
I think BMW are doing some 0% deals on the current M3s.....don't get tempted
-
How much will you loss getting rid of the 320i now? If your prepared to spend £6-7K on a Z you might as well take a hit and get rid now before the new 4 series comes out and you loss more money on the 320. E92 M3 with warranty can be had for £25K, a good spec low mileage E92 335i with warranty £15K. The M3 will clearly be more expensive to run, but my 335i is actually costing me less to run than the Z both in terms of servicing and fuel costs.
-
Sounds like your bored of the 320i because of the engine more than anything else, is changing the colour of the roof/wing mirrors really going to make you want to drive it more?

My old DC2 is still the best handling car I've driven, it was just too hardcore for me to use every day (mine didn't have aircon or radio). Have been keeping a eye on 2nd price, £4-5K to pick a good one, spend another abit updating all the suspension/brakes and your have a perfect little weekend toy...need to get a house with a double garage first, oh and get my wifes approval....so I'll just keep on dreaming

This is what you can do to a 335 if you had enough cash spare http://www.e90post.c...ad.php?t=792844 The great thing about the 335s is that even when you mod one to the point of it been faster than a M car, to most people it'll still looks like a 320D. Obviously I can understand why people want their 400-500bhp car to look a little different from a standard 3 series, but i personally love the fact my car blends in with every other 3 series on the road (not that my car is running any where near 500bhp)

Was nearly late for work last night, the problem wasn't the roads, it was the fact everyone seemed to have left work at 3-4pm so there was just a stupid amount of traffic. Had some winter tyres fitted for the first time ever this year so took to the back road to avoid the all the traffic. Was able to get up hills without problems, whilst others couldn't even get down them without locking up all 4 wheels. I'm very impressed at how much more grip the winters have on snow/ice, still £400 is alot to spend for the 1-2 days of snow we have every year -
If its going to sit in a shed why not get something really wacky like a TVR? My 335i i has been tinkered with and is a better drive than my old Z (also alot faster than the Z), but from the outside it might as well be a 318d..which for me is perfect, since its my daily drive. If I was buying something just to keep for the weekend, it would have to be something more interesting than a BMW. I wouldn't trade my 335i for a E90/92 M3 let alone a E46 M3, at the end of the day the M3 is nothing more than a tarted up 3 series, nearly all the suspension bits from a E90/92 M3 will directly bolt on to a E90/92 318d!!! 335i/M3 they are all built on the same chassis as your 320.

You wouldn't loss your no claims since the third party will have to pay to sort it. I would defiantly go through insurance, life is much easier that way...finding a body shop, having some wheels to get you around whilst work is done, chasing the third party to pay to body shop, unexpected costs, all things the insurance company will take care off.

Not suprised Jessops have gone, their gear is way overpriced compared to online sellers, especially lens. Why would you buy from them when Amazon offered the same thing but 10-20% cheaper? It's the same reason Comet closed, and no doubt others high street names will follow. But isn't this just the changing economy, as consumers we all want the best for lowest cost, and there's no way a highstreet shop with cost of rent/staff can match the prices of a warehouse selling direct online. When it comes electronic stuff these days I buy everything online,I don't think I've paid the RRP for long time....apart from Apple products, where because Apple is so control mad, prices are the same everywhere. The last few Apple stuff we've bought have been directly from the Apple store.

Been running non-run flat Falken winter tyres on my E90 M sport for last few weeks, have to honestly say the ride is no better compared to having Michelin Pilot Sports run flats. The damping is just as rubbish as ever...but hopefully that will be solve soon

im pretty sure i can handle the cost of running it  im partners with a few other websites so i have about £4300 coming in every month and yeah im young i dont spend alot i use about 400 a month and im a medical student, so i wont be driving alot and party on weekends. insurance im sure i can take care off im just worried about the mods im "Legally" allowed to do, i want to eventually tune the car up, and drop a turbo in and lower it about 6 inches, i know im going to have problems with that latter on tho because police don't care how low the car is if its not factory they write a dam ticket for it (happened to my mate last weekend) and he only dropped his evo 3inches. My Budget for the car is £13,000 i dont want to go over it is it enough for a decent z ? Sounds like you have more than enough money to buy a Z . Mods aren't a problem if you can afford the insurance, go with a broker but your age might be a problem. DON'T get in trouble with the police for any reason though, if you end up with any kind of conviction your have to declare it on you GMC record (which in turn is available to the wider public) when you qualify from medical school, and that is enough to ensure your never get on a decent training rotation.

You can always get one of the Harmony remotes, you can program them to work with virtually any device and it means you can control your TV/SkyBox/Amp all from one remote. I have 2 in the house, they have replaced about 6-7 remotes, couldn't live without them Projectons TVs been around for while, never had one but use to have a projector. Give you massive screen sizes for not a lot of money but you need a room where you can control the lighting (black out blinds etc). Bulbs on projectors are pretty pricy and have a short life, if used as your main TV they probably will only last a few years before needing changing. Getting accurate colours is also a pain. Essentially projectors/projection TVs let's you get big pictures (80 inch +) on the cheap, but ultimate image quality isn't so good (unless you spend ££££). Will get another one some day, waiting to see what happens with this 4Krubbish.
