  1. There was/is no haggling with Tesla, everyone pays the sticker price. It doesn't matter if your order 1 or 100, same price!! Anyway I haven't even got any where near settling the claim, given the original garage that Directline took the Tesla too refused to even take it off the lowloader because they couldn't work out how to open the doors, I'm not sure who they think will be able to fix the car apart from Tesla even if the insurance companies decided they'll have a crack at it...... Bear in mind there is still a battery pack with 400Volts in the car (85% charged at the time of crash), you have to be a nut job to even think about working on the thing unless you have access to Tesla level training/workshop.
  2. Thanks for the advice on the loaner, but I haven't asked for advice/help on that and I'm honestly not looking for advice on that front in any way or form. I simply want the whole thing resolved ASAP. Quite why it takes the insurance companies another week to 'inspect' a car the manufacture have inspected and deemed un-repairable due to needing an entirely new shell is beyond me.
  3. Its all been delt with by the AMC, current wait for a delivery on a new X is Sep/Oct. If the third party insurance company are serious about minimising risk they certainly dont seem bothered, it's taken them two weeks to admit liability despite me sending them the dash cam footage the night of them accident. It's going to be another week before they inspect the car themselves to confirm its a write off - Not sure why Admiral thinks they can fix a Tesla that Tesal themselves say is not fixable. Than probably another week before they even come up with a settlement figure. Seriously how long does it take to look at a dash cam footage, than phone up Tesla engineers, and finally price up an equivalent car?? I reckon thats one afternoon of work, instead am heading into the third week of the claim, with third party only just admitting liability, and still haven't got a clue how the claim will be settled. So I'll keep my current loaner for as long as it takes for the insurance people to do their jobs.
  4. Doubt it given Tesla is an American company and they'll be getting more revenue from the lower pound to USD. The X is manufactured in the US and imported into the UK, weak £ means without increasing the price Tesla was getting far less profit for each car sold in the UK than other markets. I suspect if the £ doesn't pick up even more price increases are coming.
  5. Pretty much, we put our order in the day of the Brexit vote. Sadly any imported goods will get just get more expensive. Tesla also have upped the price on the X as original pricing didn't give them enough margin, our X actually cost LESS than the current cheapest 4WD Model S!!
  6. Not my choice of colour or spec but isn't a bad loaner.
  7. Third party have now accepted liability. Insurance companies to inspect the car next week before formally writing it off. So at least another week before any settlement figures start getting bounced around.
  8. This is what my Directline policy already says for cars under 12 months old and been first registered owner, like for like replacement. Hopefully things will get sorted eventually.
  9. Am insured with Directline and the other party with Admiral, I don't think either companies are at risk of disappearing . My claim is also been handled by a company who pretty much deal with Teslas and supercars, so I have faith in them getting me the best outcome.
  10. GAP is suppose to be 'back to invoice' isn't it? The point of my situation is even if I get paid the invoice amount that isn't even enough to see me back in a basic spec Model X with no opinions ticked!!
  11. Base price has gone up by about £13K, all the other options by about 20%. To put it simply, if based on todays pricing we wouldn't have ordered the X, it's simply become too expensive. All the decent spec 'used' cars on sale today are even more expensive than new order because demand for good spec cars are higher than supply - roughly 4-6 months wait time for factory orders. Hence I'm not entirely sure how the loss adjustors are going to calculated the 'market value' of our car, as the original invoice amount we paid in March as of today is not enough to even get us into a base car with no options!!! The whole thing is just a mess I cannot wait to sort out, all you guys on the forum know how long I waited for the car, and to be put in my position now where the insurance settlement might not be enough to see me back in any Model X let alone one in our choice of spec because of some idiots actions is frustrating to say the least.
  12. More how Tesla have changed what options you could order together, and pricing. I had the additional HEPA filter added for £200, but that is no longer a option and only comes as part of the £4.5K premium pack. Our car's colour combination of white on white is no longer available, the only option for white is only metallic white which is a £1.5K option. Pricing of the 6 seater/winter pack/tow pack have all also gone up in price by about 15-20% inaddtion to rise in price of the base car, all this adds up to over £20K difference between our car and any new 'equivalent' spec car. Essentially you simply cannot order our car any more, certainly not at the price point we paid. Personally I don't want a more expensive car or more options, I just want our car back on the road .
  13. I worked many locum hours over bank holidays/nights, cancelled things like the gym membership/Sky to afford our Tesla. I'm simply worried the insurance companies may not settle the claim in a manner that will see me back in the same car. I didn't go out on that drive to have a crash, am not seeking to make any personal gains, all I want is to be back in the car I was driving. I guess I'll find out more next week what the options are. As to this 'been humble' stuff, so if someone hacks your bank account and empties out £20k from life savings but your physically not hurt I suppose that's OK than?? Better to be humble in that situation too I suppose, and if the bank shrugs their shoulders and say they cannot do anything thats that than?? Why bother reporting it to the police, or chasing the banks for compensation, its only money at the end of day so lets just be humble.
  14. Price of the 3 will be £25-30k at lower end, and I suspect it'll be very easy to spec one to £45-50k. Initial options will be only RWD and 55kWh battery but Tesla add on new specs like most other car manufacturers changes in pricing, I fully expect the 'P' dual motor version to be in customer hands by 2018. Personally I think the chances your neighbour of getting their RHD car next year though is 0% chance, as I say Tesla will simply have too much demand from the North American and Chinese markets to care about RHD market for a good few years. RHD cars also take 4 months+ to generate revenue due to time it takes to ship, this compares to 30 days max for US cars. Given investor will be watching Tesla revenue like a hawk in 2018 I simply don't see why Tesla would push RHD production so soon after launch. The Jag iPace is looking like a serious potential Tesla alternative, though pricing is expected to be £60k+before options so wouldn't be cheap. We got either the Model 3/iPace or Model Y down as potential replacements for my wifes car. Wouldn't be for a goos few years yet as need to save up the required amount.
  15. Not quite sure what you mean? The closet car on the market to ours is been sold at £90k partly due to the weak £ partly due to Tesla prior rises. What exactly do you think I should be happy with, accept a settlement figure that isn't enough to see me back in the same car as before the accident? Seriously if you were in my position what what you want?
  16. Direct line do a 'new for old' replacement on cars under a year old, but no idea how it works for Teslas as the specs of the cars is constantly changing. Our spec is no longer available. Third party will likely want to settle quickly via 'market value' but again with so few Xs on the road, none for sale on the used market and our car been barely 3 months old I have no idea what they are going to offer. In either case both insurance companies will probably inspect the car again independently, so likely at least another week before anything is confirmed.
  17. Insurance is with directline who have specific policy for Teslas. Ours is actually quite cheap compared to a fully loaded one which comes out at £150kish.
  18. Why would you question Tesla's ability to deliver the car when they are pretty much at final production spec? https://www.teslarati.com/new-model-3-photos-surface-pointing-300-mile-range-interior-details/ If your wondering about UK delivery I don't think your see RHD cars till 2019, simply because I think Tesla will have so much demand for the car first in the US and than China. Musk has apparently agreeded a 60 day delay in payment to parts suppliers, which essentially means if they can build/deliver/get cash for the car within 60 days from parts arriving at the factory each Model 3 that comes off the line is pure profit generating without any upfront costs to Tesla, essentially like printing money. This is one of the main reasons wall Street value Tesla to be worth more than Ford. So if Tesla have enough North American demand I cannot see Tesla shipping to any other markets till well into 2019, and am pretty sure they will have plenty of demand from North America. After North America itll be China who gets priority, China is Teslas second biggest market despite their cars attracting a massive 50% markup in price due to import traffis, so the cheaper 3 will be lapped like a cat given some warm milk. I have a feeling the RHD market will be way down on the list, and probably just in time for Brexit outcomes to be known.... All current Teslas in the UK currently come from a central distribution centre in Holland, Tesla doesn't import directly to the UK to keep costs down, so that will have to change.
  19. So report from the garage is in, the initial impact must have been a fairly big whack because it was enough to crack the whole rear chassis and subframe!! Essentially means the car is written off Now comes the fun bit of working out what happens next. The closest car for sale on the market today similar to ours is a cool £90k and that still isn't as well specced as ours, but even so that is nearly £20k more than what ours cost. A factor fresh order with the same spec as our from Tesla now is also £90k but 4-5 months lead time, and I'll need to be kept mobile for the the duration. Both a factory fresh order/equivalent used car will have to pay higher VED rates which our car didn't need to pay, and neither will have 'free for life' supercharging which our car has. I fully expect to be compensated for both, as all this mess happened to me through no fault on my behalf and it certainly has introduced a fair amount of stress/hassel into my life. Indeed if I have to take time off work to sort any additional things that cost also need to be paid, probably to the NHS, as a locum to cover my post when am away will cost £100/hr+ which the taxpayer shouldn't have to shoulder. Eitherway this claim is fast heading towards a six figure settlement!!! Third part insure have seen the dashcam footage but cannot accept liability untill their insured changes his story.... In a way I hope he keeps up with his lie so I can see him in court face to face, and watch him explain to the judge how he managed to hit a 2.5ton SUV with so much force to crack the chassis in a 30mph zone and whilst joining a main road from a side road. Had my car rolled, am pretty sure the police would have charged him with dangerous driving, the ability of the Tesla to absorb the impact I think let him off the hook on that front.
  20. One superpower Musk clearly has is the ability to generate money.... Made his first $300 million before the age of 30, before getting involved with PayPal/Tesla. As we all know its actually the geeks who rule the world, and Musk nailed the geek look!! One thing he does have in common with all young kids with too much cash and little driving skill is the ability to crash very expensive cars, wrote off a F1 which he bought after making his first $300 million....May be this why his made Tesla's 4WD, come with a stupid amount of safety kit standard, and let you walk away even in a big crash His actually seems like a bit of petrol-head, his previous car list would am sure be met with approval even on here BMW 320i, Jag XK, M5, 911, Lotus Esprit S1. http://www.teslarati...sk-drive-tesla/
  21. Am actually amazed at how effective our relativly small solar panels are in our new house. Clearly the crazy sun/heat is helping but I've just submitted our meter readings and we've used on average 15kWh per day from the grid INCLUDING charging up the Tesla over the last 2 months. That also includes using zero gas over the last 2 months because all the hot water is also heated up by solar!! Some of that is distorted because we have been doing alot of moving around, but it shows just how easy it is for localised solar PVs to generate electricity and take demand/strain off the grid.
  22. I think I still rather be in a X been T boned by a truck rather a Note. In fact in a recent collision between a Tesla and a truck it wasn't the Tesla that flipped. I can pretty much guarantee in my accident any other car would have rolled. The Note is a fine family car as many people have them, but if there was an accident coming I would much rather be in a X. Volvo built their entire brand on safety, and as much as am sure we all drive safely on the roads as my accident showed idiots are plentiful. The crash integrity of Teslas isn't the only thing that made us choose it, but it certainly is one big selling point for us. This is what was left of the S, its a mess but the actual passenger compartment is intact. The survivability of these cars in big crashes really is immense. https://electrek.co/2016/05/06/tesla-model-s-crash-large-crumple-zone-gallery/
  23. Its not stick just advice to be mindful and hopefully not incur a £10k hire car bill At £300+ a day I suspect the final hire car bill will be alot more than £10k. Given its taken 6 days already just to get it recovered to a Tesla workshop!!
  24. Don't worry about it, am an adult like everyone else here so quite capable of making my own decision in life
  25. Do you tax/insurer/service another car to keep on your driveway to use just incase someone crashes into your normal car?? I suspect short of millionaires most people have a car for a reason, they need to get from A to B. In my case the car is our main family car used to do all the nursery runs. A huge part of the decision making process that made us choose the car over others was the safety features is offered over all other cars on the market and something it demonstrated in the crash. We saved for 3 years and waited for nearly 12 months for it to be delivered, and all I can say am happy that I was able to do the nursery run back in a car with the same safety features. If I had caused the crash I would put my hands up, admit I dis wrong and try to come up with a solution, but as this accident was in no way related to my actions I'm glad at least am back in a similar car whilst the mess is sorted out. Oh and I've fitted a dash car to the loaner, as I suspect I'll be driving around in the hire car for the next month at least.
