  1. Any fellow sufferers want to lend some tips on how to minimise the effects of this ghastly, erm, disease? Admittedly, I haven't bothered with the antihistemines yet, as they didn't really work that well in the past. Anyone had one of the more "permananent" remedies (injections etc)?
  2. Not trying to be a spoilsport or anything, but doesn't the bonus ball idea constitute as gambling/gaming? Personally, I don't mind, but I'm pretty sure that it can be regarded as illegal without a license, and it could cause problems for the forum. It would only take one disgruntled (ex) member to grass... I remember taking part in a "raffle" on a bike forum before. It seemed to all be in good spirits, but after the first "contest", all kinds of legal crap was being thrown about etc...but then again, that particular forum was based in the US, so dunno what the law is like here...
  3. How about this...you can play on our behalf...and if "we" win, we'll give you a quid in exchange for "our" share of the winnings?
  4. But PayPal charge a fee, don't they? Granted, for a quid, it's only a few pence, but it'll add up and someone will need to take the "hit". With that said, if this is going ahead, then I'd be interested. +1
  5. Its because Kev has just put in the URL rather than using the button URL? Did it bother you that much? No no noooo...sorry, didn't mean the link, I meant the text in the Ebay ad...
  6. A bit off-topic, but who's idea was it to underline all of the text?
  7. Link? The link is in the underlined "this". ...like this (hover yer mouse over it). holtehero - that would be fine too, but I'm not looking to buy new, or get on a contract. I just want a "used" for less than retail, and ASAP, for pay as you go use... Cheers, Tin
  8. Hello, I'm after something like this ASAP. Ideally it would work with T-Mobile, as their data rates are the most reasonable. Doesn't necessarily need to be the latest HSDPA model, but needs to be working, and hopefully with drivers for Windows 2000. I'll probably be bidding for the one that I've linked to, which ends in about 27 hours, but if anyone can offer me anything in the meantime, that would be great. Cheers,
  9. Swap badges with the T43? Or any excuse to get a new laptop from work. Or failing that, get a USB wireless dongle thing.
  10. Yeah, he seems pretty focused on London...plus, I'm not sure if this is the right role for him if he wants to get into IT Security...
  11. One of the guys here has just done the sensible thing, and fled to Hong Kong, so there's a position open at the company. The basic blurb is as follows (it has been written to target Graduates with experience, but I'm sure that their upper salary range would suit some more experienced peeps, or perhaps those who fancy a career change): Personally, I think that the last sentence is the most important, although a bit of programming knowledge won't go amiss. Salary is pretty good for what it is and the area, but since they don't mention it, I'm not in a position to talk about the numbers. Please PM me if you're interested, and I'll forward on the contact details etc... The company is in Stroud, but if you live (or choose to live) in Bath, then you'll be welcome to hitch a lift with me. Cheers, Tin
  12. At the risk of jumping the gun a little, it could well be a hardware fault - you gets (or not gets) what you pay for... Any chance that you can test the card in another machine to verify? (after following the suggestions above). Also, have you tried uninstalling the device, and then trying the "plug and play" route to see if the OS will automatically detect it?
  13. What OS are you running? You mentioned that it *was* working - have you changed anything since? Have you tried rebooting? (I ask this 'cos I normally just keep my laptop on hibernate most of the time, and occasionally need to reboot) Driver reinstall could be worthwhile, though if you're using Windows 2000 or XP Pro, it could be worth peeking into the Admin Tools->Event Viewer to see if anything obvious is failing.
  14. Very nice... So when are you going to paint it? /puts flamesuit on...
  15. I hate the fact that the bombs end the game immediately...i.e. the number of lives that you have left mean nothing...sooo annoying...the furthest I've got is 94 so far...and then I stupidly clicked the button...and got so pi$$ed off that I couldn't be bothered to start again...maybe after lunch.
  16. You need to save your "skips" for the end... And even with the spoilers, it's still frustrating...
  17. Congrats dude, and fingers crossed for the pay rise. Are they hiring anyone in an IT consulatancy capacity?
  18. Really? Strange...you didn't see this one? http://www.hein-gericke.com/uk/product_info.php/products_id/1710...unless I'm missing something... As the the bike barn - yeah, great peice of kit, and geat piece of mind and convenience when you're tucking up the bike after a ride, and it's raining/snowing etc...but like I said, maybe not so great on the driveway (I previously had my bike tucked away in the back garden).
  19. Have you taken a look at the Hein Gericke link?
  20. Bah, you're about 2 weeks late - I just threw away a "bike barn" (http://www.thebikebarn.net/) when clearing out the shed of the house we're selling...but I'm not sure if it's really that suitable for a driveway anyway... Have you taken a peek at Hein Gericke?
  21. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/172091.htm Sounds a bit cheap to me...
  22. It all depends on the driver and conditions I suppose...basically, the auto requires a torque converter to form the connection between the engine and then tranny, thus doing the job of the clutch in a manual car. I think the nature of the torque converter is where some of the power/efficiency is lost, because there needs to be an extra bit of work before the power from the engine is transferred to the transmission. To be honest, the differences are negligible (in terms of outright performance times etc), but can look significant on paper...i.e. you can spend hundreds on a new induction kit etc to gain a few HP, but on a tip car, it'll still be less powerful than a stock manual. Or so the theory goes.
  23. You won't be wanting a GPRS (or 3G) card for standard Wi-Fi hotspots - you'll just be wanting a "wireless network adapter", which can come in a variety of flavours, including a PCMCIA card and USB. As for using abroad - I don't see why not.
  24. Haha, funny you should say that...I quite like the guy...BUT, he does show his knowledge limitations quite often (but the rest of them are too stupid to correct him)...such as tonight...he said that the prize for the winning team involved "racing formula 1 cars"...now, I know that even top racing talent would have difficulty even sitting into the cockpit of an F1 car for a photograph...but I gave him the benefit of the doubt since he was rich...and lo and behold, they were driving crappy kit cars around a go-kart track. Lame.
  25. Yup, but I think this episode summed up the entire series quite well - that they're all crap. At the beginning, I thought that Katie (the one that you so affectionately refer to ) was the most cool-minded and "fair"...but turns out that she was just, well, human, I guess. But seriously, in the last series, most of them didn't go to university etc, but there were a few potential "stars"...but I can't see anyone who I would choose as the apprentice from this lot.
