  1. I would agree with previous poster in regards to a Elise/Exige/ or even a turbo car being better base to begin with for track usage

  8. Hope Phil recovers steadily & good to see such support from his family. Regards, Ricky
  9. On a 8.5 front and 9.5 rear alloy with +25ET offset I would go: Front: 245/40/18 or 235/40/18 Rear: 275/40/18 I would'nt go 18x9 on front, it will spoil ride with understeer & unnecesary weight. Especially then running 275 width tyres on front[/b]

  14. Adam any chance you could pm me prices on BC & KW Variant 3 coilovers for a Subaru Impreza Sti 2006. (its a Spec C bit I think should be same fitment as sti) Thanks Ricky
  15. Anyone been using Apex (also known as BC) coilovers, more speceficaly the Generation 2 ones. Very popular with Nissan 200sx & Skyline owners & very well priced. Yes they'r not as good as KW Variant 2/3 or AST 2 etc but theyr less than half their price & fully adjustable. Any opinions on these? http://tinyurl.com/5l7jpe Also anyone know of any good deals going on KW Variant 3, not specefically for 350z. Thanks, Ricky the zedless returns!!
  16. Thanks chaps We all had track insurance so he's not too bothered, quite a laid back chap!! Good day out but I prefered Silverstone & Donnington to Brands. Its a great circuit but not in your own car if you know what I mean!! Steve Thanks for all your video links from other post, I watched that LOT Brands lines video many times. Also watched a lot of Caterham & SR8 etc videos, made me catch a lot of perople in Clearways & exit of Clearways by carrying a lot more speed with a proper line. Spent most of that morning fiddling with newly fitted thicker/adjustable rear ARB & tyre pressures. After lunch started picking up speed, but by 2.30pm tyres were going off & needed to be swopped over front to back & also pads needed changing. So instead called it a day 1.5hrs early. Just bought some Performance Friction Zcompound pads & need to do oil/filter change. Before another trackday in spring I would rather do a driver training day & also then consider getting: thicker front ARB/ Remap after a few mods/ Coilover suspension??? ££££££Â£'s
  17. Also a phone video: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NduP8b4ttiA
  18. Went to Brands Hatch Open Pit lane yesterday with the Middx Subaru Owners Club. Approx 15 of us had one end of the pits as a group with others in differing cars in other garages inc TVRs/500bhp Cossie/E46 M3/ etc. Weather was excellent; event was busy with approx 5mins queing to get on track. Good to go in a group as collectively we had a whole garge worth of tools & tyres & quite a few members who were mechanics or as good as! Though great fun, this event was not as relaxed & enjoyable as previous club trackdays at Silverstone or Donnington. Mainly because the other remaining 70% of cars there were hardcore dedicated track machines such as Ariel Atoms; SR8's/ Caterhams including a R500 Superlight lapping in low 50'sec/997 GT3 RS/Gallardo LP/Tuned 911 Turbos/ Single seater racers etc. So most of time was spent looking in the rear view mirrors letting these through. Secondly the number of track day experience or tuition Elises/Megane R26 F1's that would constantly be on track & not move over was shocking. (Though the R26s were great cars considering they'r only running 225bhp IIRC.) Also IMO Brands Hatch is not the kind of track that you can go into corners all guns blazing without a care in the world like you could at Silverstone/ Bedford & to certain extent Donnington. Here armcos & barriers are always a few meters away & the grass is even closer, as my good friend foundout to his peril at 10.20am. Caution was needed, after watching countless videos beforehand I knew Paddock Hill bend was where I would take it easy as a beginner. I was also surprised to realise the exit to Druids claimed so many cars. Which is exactly what happened to my friend, in his older shape Spec C. I think he applied to much power with lock still on, comming out of Druids. One tyre on the grass on the left hand side of the track probably sent him spinning across the track to the right hand side. Straight into the tyre wall hitting almost every side of the car in the impact. It was then bounced back onto edge of track. Paddock Hill bend has to be one of the greatest corners on any track, its amazing how steeply it drops away & absoloute balls of steel are needed to be fast here...ps not me!! Me Taking it easy
  19. Thanx chaps Im hoping to take it to 370 or there abouts & have some fun. Then after that (though not neccesary!) would be a bigger twin scroll turbo to 420 ish. Trev whats your mates name, is he on Scoobynet?
  20. Not had the car on rollers since I bought it 6 months ago so wanted to know what bhp & torque it was producing & if map looked good. Most Litchfied, Powerstation UK fuel mapped Spec C's are meant to produce approx 320bhp & thats what i would have been happy with or there abouts. Though Charlie from Surrey Rolling Road did warn me that the rollers at Powerstation are of a different type & always read differently from his. Not that one is right & one is wrong its just how each is designed I imagine. Surrey Rolling Road ones read lower & they have never had a Std Spec C measured more than approx 310bhp. So I lowered my excpectations & hoped between 300 to 315bhp. Only engine mods I have is Blitz backbox (otherwise std exhaust 2.5") & Hyperflow top mount intercooler, with basic Uk fuel map. My 3 quick runs later.................. YouTube - Subaru- MSOC Surrey Rolling Road-Slowboy Racing 25/10/08 Pt2 To say I was happy was an understatement!! And so was Charlie from Surey Rolling Road!! Now exscuse me but I must quote his exact words just for my own satisfaction!!!!!!! " As std its rare for them to make that much "...."that engine was smoooth & car ran like a pussycat on the rollers, didnt move & hardly made a sound"!! " the engine was strong & with no mods & just remap I could easliy see a lot more torque (which wasnt that high) & bhp upto approx 345 to 350bhp as is" Pardon my modesty!!! Anyway I also met Neil from Slowboy Racing who organised day & he offered great, helpful advice & had a quick look at my RR Printouts. He also agreed that torque & power could be easliy improved. As there is a flat spot something to do with AFR; & car is over fueling & it has a very moderate safe map at medium boost. I leave that to the technical geniuses to analyse the maps!! So very useful & fun morning that has given me info on which direction to go in, in terms of engine mods next year: -Decat down pipe & full 3" system -3 port boost solenoid -Uprated Actuator -K&N panel filter (since, done) -Remap with new mods & hope for approx 370bhp That on a 1340kg car should produce approx 250bhp per tonne & 0 to 60mph time of approx 3.8 sec Overall great day by MSOC & Slowboy racing, with mine producing 3rd highest figures of the day
